Cyberpunk 2077 offers a vast selection of weapons, many of which are appropriately futuristic. By the time you reach max level, you’ll have dozens upon dozens of options to choose from, including brutal melee weapons, powerful assault rifles, deadly sniper rifles, and more. Then, of course, you’ve got your Smart weapons.
Smart weapons are pretty unique in that they don’t require manual aiming. These weapons have an advanced targeting system that automatically locks onto enemies and guarantees that you will always hit your target. You do need to incorporate specific Cyberware implants called Smart Links in order to make the most out of them, but there are no other drawbacks to using Smart weapons over other types of weapons. That goes double if you’re wielding the amazing Smart weapons featured on this list.
10 Prototype: Shingen Mark V
Higher-Than Average Chance To Cause Burn
Prototype: Shingen Mark V is a Smart submachine gun that fires explosive projectiles in three-round bursts. All in all, the stats of this weapon are fairly underwhelming all things considered, but the SMG still performs admirably in combat thanks to its reliability, good handling, and fast lock-on time. Attack speed isn’t too shabby either, though the Prototype: Shingen Mark V can’t quite hold a candle to many other Smart weapons in that department.
The Prototype: Shingen Mark V doesn’t come with a lot of bells and whistles, but it does come with a unique passive effect that allows it to fire explosive rounds that have a 30% Burn chance. Generally speaking, elemental damage effects like this only proc 20% of the time, so expect that extra 10% chance to add a significant amount of extra DPS over time. Having said that, the Prototype: Shingen Mark V can only be considered a decent Smart weapon when compared to some of the other weapons on this list.

9 Genjiroh
Fast Lock-On Time And Two Firing Modes
The Genjiroh is a Smart pistol that offers both full-auto and burst-fire modes. You probably won’t use full-auto all that often since it only works when firing from the hip, but it’s nice to have the option regardless. This pistol has a lock-on time of only one second and comes with a +85% headshot damage multiplier, which may not sound like much compared to other weapons in the game, but it’s actually better than most of the guns on this list.
The burst-fire mode is where the Genjiroh truly shines. The pistol fires four rounds with each burst and has a 20% chance to apply Shock with every projectile fired. The proc chance isn’t amazing, but it’s pretty standard compared to most of the other Iconic weapons in Cyberpunk 2077. In addition to that, Genjiroh’s unique passive effect also gives it a larger magazine size and increased projectile speed. It’s a pretty basic effect all things considered, but it’s enough to get the job done.

8 Chesapeake
Very Good Damage For An SMG
The Chesapeake may look like a slightly worse version of the Prototype: Shingen Mark V, but that’s actually not the case. While most of its stats are indeed worse, this Smart SMG inflicts almost twice as much damage. Perhaps even more importantly, the Chesapeake is a fully automatic SMG with a larger magazine size, armor penetration, and a shorter lock-on time. The lock-on time is easily one of the weapon’s biggest selling points.
The Chesapeake comes with a unique effect that increases its fire rate with each consecutive shot while also giving the user increased movement speed. Moreover, as soon as you start zipping around the battlefield like a bat out of hell, you’ll also start dealing more damage. Some of these buffs are hidden until you’re in the thick of combat. This is one of these situations where simply looking at the stats sheet doesn’t give you a full picture of what the weapon is capable of.

7 Kappa X-MOD2
Special Variant Smart Pistol With Modding Capabilities
The Kappa X-MOD2 is a special variant of the Crimestopper, which is a very good Smart pistol in its own right. On paper, this variant doesn’t look that much better than the original. In fact, the weapon is worse in some ways. The Kappa X-MOD2 deals a tiny bit more damage but loses out to the Crimestopper when it comes to all the other stats. Not only that, but the Kappa X-MOD2 doesn’t come with a passive effect either. However, the weapon has one big advantage over the Crimestopper – customization.
The reason why customization is such a big deal is because this is a feature available to very few Smart weapons. In fact, there’s only one other weapon on this list capable of supporting mods. Attaching a couple of good Tier 5 mods on the weapon will make it significantly more powerful and versatile. A lot of Iconic weapons are one-trick ponies, but a weapon like the Kappa X-MOD can be customized to fit specific builds and situations.

6 Ogou
Best Smart Pistol In The Game With Tons Of DPS
The Ogou is an unassuming Smart pistol that proves that sometimes the best things come in small packages. Much like the Cricket from Men in Black, the Ogou deals a tremendous amount of damage despite its small size. Furthermore, this is an automatic pistol that comes with a +50% crit damage modifier, so keep that finger on the trigger and watch as all your enemies explode into a thousand little pieces.
The main reason why the Ogou deals such a high amount of damage for a pistol is because it fires in bursts of two. Not just that but the projectiles explode on impact and have a high chance of dismembering enemies. Every time you dismember an enemy using this Smart pistol, its critical chance goes up and the weapon gets an increased chance to apply Bleeding. The only thing that drags the Ogou down a couple of notches is its slow attack speed. Well, that and its low ammo count, of course.

5 Hercules 3AX
Hybrid Smart/Power Weapon That Doesn’t Require Specialized Cyberware
The Hercules 3AX is not like the other weapons on this list. While technically a Smart weapon, the Hercules 3AX behaves just like a Power assault rifle when fired from the hip and has enough ammo to raze an entire village. You won’t necessarily feel the need to switch to ADS while using this weapon, but if you decide to do it anyway, you’ll quickly find out that this is indeed a Smart weapon and comes with a targeting system just like all the others.
Another unique feature of the Hercules 3AX is the fact that it doesn’t require a Smart Link. Moreover, the projectiles fired by this weapon have a 20% chance to Poison enemies and cause them to explode into a pool of acid upon death. This weapon definitely has a lot going on for itself, but it’s not quite as powerful as other assault rifles and the curved trajectory of its projectiles takes a while to get used. Certainly not a bad weapon, but there are better options out there.

4 Divided We Stand
Best Smart Assault Rifle In The Game
Divided We Stand is one of the best assault rifles in Cyberpunk 2077, so it should come as no surprise that it would get a spot on this list as well. The weapon rivals the Hercules 3AX in terms of attack speed while being significantly faster to reload and dealing a bit more damage. Divided We Stand has poor accuracy when shot from the hip, so make sure to always use the Smart targeting system unless you’re fighting in tight quarters.
The weapon’s unique passive effect allows it to target-lock no less than five enemies at once, though not without any drawbacks. Divided We Stand loses accuracy and has a chance to miss when you’re locking onto the maximum number of targets. On the bright side, every shot you manage to land has a 20% chance of causing a chemical explosion that deals Poison damage. All in all, a solid assault rifle, but there are a few Smart weapons out there that are even better.

3 Yasha
Best Smart Sniper Rifle In The Game
Yasha is one of only a small handful of Smart sniper rifles found in the game, and is arguably the best of the bunch. The weapon is deadly accurate, can hit targets from a mile away, and deals way more damage than most of the other guns on this list. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Yasha has the largest headshot damage multiplier at a very impressive +150%. Needless to say, this weapon can one-shot all but the hardiest enemies in the game.
Yasha is an Iconic variant of the Ashura, a Smart sniper rifle with similar stats save for the range, which is better on the regular version. The main difference between the two is that Yasha comes with a faster lock-on timer and an additional open mod slot. As discussed earlier, customization is very important and can turn an already good weapon into a fantastic one. The only reason why Yasha isn’t even higher up on this list is because it’s a very specialized weapon that can only lock onto one target at a time.

2 Ba Xing Chong
Best Smart Shotgun In The Game
Ba Xing Chong is an absolutely devastating Smart shotgun that can turn non-boss enemies to dust with a simple squeeze of the trigger. This is by far the best Smart weapon in Cyberpunk 2077 in terms of damage potential, being capable of hitting three times as hard as Yasha. Granted, the attack speed and handling are pretty abysmal, but you don’t need to be very accurate with a weapon like this even without the Smart targeting system. Simply point it in the general direction of your enemies and rest assured knowing that at least one of its multiple projectiles will hit its mark.
The Ba Xing Chong’s passive effect turns this Smart shotgun into a veritable rocket launcher that can shred even armored opponents. The weapon fires explosive projectiles that deal heavy AoE damage and can Smart-target up to six enemies at once. The player also gets a bonus to reload speed and Burn chance when they’re wielding this weapon at low health. The caveat is that the Ba Xing Chong reduces movement speed and jump height, but that’s a small price to pay for a beastly weapon like this.

1 Yinglong
Overall Best Smart Weapon In The Game
Despite having somewhat humble stats compared to some of the other entries on this list, the Yinglong can rightly be considered one of the best weapons in Cyberpunk 2077. This Smart submachine gun is incredibly fast and remarkably accurate even when fired from the hip. It also takes less time to reload compared to any of the other weapons on this list. If you’re looking for speed and efficiency, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better option than the Yinglong.
The Yinglong would have been a top-tier weapon even without any unique passive effects but, as it happens, the SMG does have one. The passive enables the weapon to deal Electrical damage and gives it a small chance to apply an EMP with every round. EMPs are especially potent against drones, robots, and other mechanical enemies. Normally, you would use an EMP grenade against those, but there’s no need for one if you’re wielding the Yinglong. In addition to all of that, the Yinglong also has a +20% chance to apply Shock.
