Sky: Children of The Light’s Winged Light is a vital collectible for Sky Kids. They help empower your capes so you can fly higher and longer. They are also important for survival, as the energy that your cape has is essentially how much life you have, which could be in danger in a few areas. One of those areas is the Hidden Forest realm.
The Winged Light in the Hidden Forest is a mixed bag. While some are in plain sight, there are just as many that are hidden very well. There are also a few that require getting pretty far in the game’s story to gain access to. This guide here will help you figure out everything you need to know about getting the WInged Light in the Hidden Forest.
About The Hidden Forest
The Hidden Forest is the third realm that players will be able to access in the world of Sky. It is the area where you’ll first encounter some of the dangers to your Sky Kid, such as rain and Dark Crabs. Light creatures are scarce in this realm, and with many trees, cliffs, and other structures, you won’t have as much freedom with flying as you would in the Daylight Prairie.
The Hidden Forest currently has 10 different areas within the realm. As indicated by the yellow stars on the map next to them, eight of those areas have Winged Lights in them. There are a total of 19 Winged Lights to find here. Accessing all of them requires all eight Hidden Forest spirits, one Valley of Triumph spirit, and one Vault of Knowledge spirit.
The Wind Paths Winged Light (1)
While the Wind Paths is part of the Hidden Forest, it is in truth an area between all of Sky’s realms. Due to this, there are ways to reach the area in every realm. The official way is through the Spirit Door in the clouds to the right from the Hidden Forest’s Social Space — if you have one Vault of Knowledge spirit.
Winged Light 1 – Through A Tunnel In The Center Island
You’ll find the Winged Light in a tunnel next to the area’s Flight Guide spirit. You won’t be able to reach this directly due to the wind blowing out of it; instead, you’ll have to fly through one of the many tunnels underneath the island and get it as you’re passing.
The correct tunnel to fly through will be underneath a section of the island to the right side, with several pots and half a boat with a ladder next to it. There’s also a stone platform jutting out from there with some candles on it.
Below is a video showing where the tunnel to reach the Winged Light is located.
The Treehouse Winged Lights (2-3)
The Treehouse is connected to all the main areas of the Hidden Forest. You can get there through a wooden door in a tree, on the left side of the flight path from the Social Space to the Hidden Forest entrance, if you have at least one Valley of Triumph spirit to get through the Spirit Door. If you find the treehouses in each of the main areas, nearby will be wooden doors that will take you there without a Spirit Door getting in the way.
Winged Light 2 – In A Hole In A Tree
Once you enter the area through the Spirit Door, fly up and to the right, through the trees. You should see a hole in the tree, with a Winged Light standing inside.
Winged Light 3 – Treehouse Secret Passageway
The next Winged Light will be inside the large treehouse at the center of the area. To the right of the treehouse’s stairway will be a secret passageway lit by torches. Keep going down, and the Winged Light will be waiting, surrounded by a ring of torches in a shallow pool of water.
Forest Entrance Winged Lights (4-5)
Winged Light 4 – On Top Of A Wooden Balcony
If you continue flying through the clouds from the Social Space into the realm, you’ll see a Winged Light to the right, on a wooden platform. If you’re low on energy, you can use the nearby clouds for a flight boost.
Winged Light 5 – At The Forest Brook Entrance
Venture deeper into the Hidden Forest, past the first few fences and doors, and you’ll come across one last door leading into the next area. The Winged Light will be in front of the door in plain sight.
Forest Brook Winged Lights (6-9)
Winged Light 6 – In A Hole, Hidden By Darkness
As you walk further into the area, look to your left side, and you should see a path leading to a small cave. Go through the cave and continue straight ahead past the spirit and candles, and you’ll end up on a cliff that will be facing another. Fly to the other cliff, and you’ll find the Winged Light in a hole. There may be some Darkness plants that you’ll have to burn to get to it (or you can fly over them too).
Winged Light 7 – In A Shelter In The Trees
Going back to the way you came into the area, you’ll see a stone shelter with some Message Candles in it. To the right side is a tree with some Light Blooms growing from it. Fly up the tree, using the Light Blooms to replenish your energy if you need it, and a Winged Light will be waiting inside.
Winged Light 8 – In Another Tree Shelter, In Front Of Candles
There is another shelter in the trees, visible and across from where you get the last Winged Light. If you fly from the last shelter, you can reach it and get some wax from the candles behind it in the process.
Winged Light 9 – Forest Boneyard Entrance
The next main area is the Forest Boneyard. You’ll find the entrance at the end of the Forest Brook, with Light Blooms and a lantern on both sides of the opening. A Winged Light will be there as well, right between the two lanterns.
Elevated Clearing Winged Lights (10-11)
The Elevated Clearing can be accessed by going to the right of the Forest Brook upon entering the area. There will be an opening in the wall with a Spirit Door inside. You can get through this Spirit Door if you’ve found all eight regular Hidden Forest spirits.
Winged Light 10 – Behind A Tree On The Balcony
If you look up and to the right, you’ll see that some of the trees are connected by wooden bridges and balconies. Fly up to the nearest tree and walk along the balcony to the right, going around the tree, and you’ll find the Winged Light.
Winged Light 11 – On A Circular Stone Floor
Another Winged Light can be found just a bit further in the area, on the right side standing in the center of a circle of stone close to the big tree.
Underground Cavern Winged Lights (12-15)
The Underground Cavern can be accessed through an opening in a tree, on the left side of the Elevated Clearing area. It requires two players using the Angry expression to break the weak stone floor and fall through.
Winged Light 12 – Behind A Door
Once you view the cutscene for the area, you can look to the right and downward, and you’ll see some ground near the cloud floor. Fly toward that ground, and you’ll see a Winged Light behind a door. You can open the door by powering the switch with your candle. If you don’t get out fast enough, don’t worry — there’s a switch inside that you can light to open the door as well.
Winged Light 13 – On A Pillar Outside A Building
In the Underground Cavern is a long flock of birds flying along a set path. If you go along the opposite of the path they’re flying, you’ll end up finding an abandoned building. On the left of the pillars outside that building is a Winded Light.
Winged Light 14 – In A High-Up Hole In The Wall
On the left side coming from where you got the last Winged Light (or the right side when going towards it) will be a little area with some Darkness plants and jars. Burn the Darkness plants and the lids on the jars to free the Light Butterflies inside. Use your Deep Call, and the butterflies will lift you up to where the next Winged Light is, inside a hole in the wall.
Winged Light 15 – To The Far Left Of The Cavern Exit
If you follow the path of the birds this time, you’ll reach the top of the large grassy hill at the end of the Underground Cavern. On that hill will be a cliff poking out and facing another one, which will lead to the exit. To the far left side of the exit will be the Winged Light in plain sight.
Forest Boneyard Winged Lights (16-18)
Winged Light 16 – Inside A Tree
The next Winged Light is inside a small space in a tree. If you enter the area from the Forest Brook, you can fly along the course of the birds on the right side, looking along the right of the Boneyard while flying to spot the hole in the tree.
Winged Light 17 – Inside A Shelter, Behind A Spirit Door
If you follow the trail of the birds flying on the left side this time around, you should spot a large stone structure with a Spirit Door at the top, surrounded by some trees with Light Blooms growing out of them. Behind that Spirit Door will be a Winged Light. While The Spirit Door requires four Hidden Forest spirits to get through, you can get the Winged Light without going through it if you’re close enough.
Winged Light 18 – At The End Of The Bridge
The main path of the Hidden Forest will have you powering switches with light to raise sections of a bridge. At the end of the broken bridge will be a Winged Light, surrounded by white candles. One of the light switches to raise the bridge will sometimes not work, but it isn’t necessary to reach this Winged Light as you can fly to it.
Forest Temple Winged Light (19)
Winged Light 19 – Beyond The Temple, On A Tree Trunk
After you summon the Elder’s statue, light the candles, and meditate at the circle, you will gain access to the area beyond the temple. Once you make your way through, you’ll see the Winged Light to your left, standing alone on a tree trunk.
