Kraven the Hunter, in his hunt to kill the supervillains of New York, has set up a total of 4 Hunter Bases throughout the city. It’s up to Spider-Man to take them all down, and you can choose either Miles or Peter as they’re not content-locked.
Unlike the Fisk Hideouts or Tinkerer’s Underground Bases of the last games, there’s quite a bit of set-up to finally take down these Hunter Bases. Kraven and his Hunters are not messing around, even by supervillain standards. So, prepare to spend a good deal of time on these and get very acquainted with the stealth mechanics.
How To Unlock Hunter Bases
The first Hunter Base won’t appear on the map until you finish the mission Bad Guys On The Block. This only unlocks the very first Hunter Base. The other 3 won’t appear until some time later. Once Peter finally gains his Symbiote powers, the other 3 Bases will appear for you to take on.
How To Beat Hunter Blinds
You won’t be able to just walk up to the Hunter Bases. They will be hidden from your map, as you have to discover to location of the Base by finishing the Hunter Blinds that hold the Intel you need. There will be a large group of Hunters at every single Blind. Stealth is recommended. That said, you can still go whole-hog and defeat the Hunters loudly, but the Hunters will call for back-up if you tackle them head-on.
Because you can use either Spider-Man, it’s recommended you play as Miles Morales if you’re going for stealth. He can turn invisible when his meter is full.
Once all the Hunters are defeated, you’ll gain a blue waypoint pointing you in the direction of a broken Talon drone holding the Intel you need to find the Base.
While sticking your hand into this machine, you’ll open a blue 3D data model of the area of the Base. You’ll have a cursor you’ll need to move around to see through the walls to discover info about the Base. This will also let you discover the defenses of the Bases. With this information now known to Spider-Man, turning off these defenses will become sub-objectives when finally taking down the Hunter Base.
The sub-objectives are heavily recommended, as the Bases will be loaded with Hunters. With the defenses intact, the hunters will be able to call for backup.
Where To Find Hunter Blinds
The locations of the Blinds will probably already be on your map. If that doesn’t happen to be the case for you, use the pictures above to find the Blinds in these districts:
- Harlem
- Upper West Side
- Financial District
- Downtown Brooklyn
How To Beat Hunter Bases
The location of the Base will show up on your map once you have finished the last needed Blind. The Base will usually be close to you. You can tackle Hunter Bases as either Miles or Peter. Stealth is heavily recommended as there will be a couple dozen Hunters in the Base. As stated previously, they can also call reinforcements unless you turn that off, and there will also be heavy artillery unless you destroy that first.
Both of those sub-objectives will have a blue waypoint. Turning off the reinforcements should take priority over the other. All you’ll have to do is walk up to the console while not spotted and Miles/Peter will turn the satellite relay off.
Each of the 4 Bases will then have a different secondary defense mechanics that will become a sub-objective:
- 2 of the Bases need Spider-Man to unplug heavy vehicles
- 1 Base needs Spider-Man to rewire Talon charging stations so they explode
- 1 Base needs Spider-Man to spray herbicide on killer plants
Once all these sub-objectives are completed, you can put the rest of your focus on defeating the Hunters. Without backup or their stronger attacks, a direct approach is acceptable. Thinning the herd with stealth is still a great idea. Remember that by the time you do your first Hunter Base, you will have the Web Line, which is perfect for stealthing in the Hunter Bases.
Once all the Hunters have been knocked out, Miles or Peter will find a computer that contains a recording between Kraven and a member of his family. This will shed more light on his character and the Spider-Men will decide they can try to use this Intel for future attacks if the other Kravinoffs show up.
Your Reward For Beating All Hunter Bases
For completing every Hunter Base, you’ll receive:
- Every Kravinoff Audio Log
- The Seek and Destroy Trophy
- Most Dangerous Game Suit (Miles)
- Last Hunt Suit (Peter)
The suits will look identical. While unlocked by default, you will need to spend tokens to craft their extra colors.
