Spider-Man 2 gives players multiple different abilities and gadgets to mix up combat. Both are recharged in similar manners, along with upgrades to give the abilities additional effects or gadgets a higher capacity or more targets.
Investing in upgrades for gadgets and abilities can cost a lot of upgrade materials or skill points, making it important to know how they are recharged so you can actually take advantage of your upgrades. Here is how to recharge both gadgets and abilities.
Recharging Abilities
Abilities are recharged during combat. Getting long combos will make each individual attack recharge more energy for each of your abilities. Dodging and parrying also give large amounts of energy back for abilities, making simply fighting in combat recharge abilities, with better performance leading to using abilities more often.
There are a few upgrades players can get to make recharging abilities easier. The Focused Parry Damage Suit Tech upgrade will give more ability energy for each successful parry. The Combo King Suit Tech upgrade, is also a great upgrade, as every tenth hit in a combo gives more energy than usual. As abilities naturally recharge in combat, getting these upgrades early is a great decision for every player.
Recharging Gadgets
Gadgets are also recharged through combat, with random gadgets being recharged through long combos, dodges, and parries. There’s also a unique trigger for both Spider-Men that will randomly happen after an enemy is defeated, giving players one extra gadget to use for free for a short time. When this happens, any gadget can be used, regardless of how many the player currently has. If one of those gadgets is held but used during the free gadget time, the free gadget will be used first.
Each gadget also has an upgrade tree, with a common upgrade increasing the total carry capacity for that gadget. While this won’t make them recharge faster, it will allow more to stock up and be saved during easier bits of combat where they aren’t being used often, such as crimes.
