The In Memoriam Companion Quest is the most important quest for anyone interested in romancing Sarah Morgan in Starfield. Sarah’s companion quest can be difficult to trigger, but once it gets added to your mission list, you’ll be led on an adventure that is just as engaging as the Constellation’s main-line quests.
Every single Starfield Explorer has spent time with Sarah Morgan in their squad. If you are interested in taking your in-game relationship with Ms. Morgan to the next level, you’ll have to join her on a quest to Cassiopeia I and help Sona get off-world during the In Memoriam Companion Quest.
How To Start Sarah Morgan’s Companion Mission
There isn’t anything particularly difficult about the In Memoriam Quest, but activating it can be a bit of a hassle. The only way to trigger this quest is to slowly build a relationship with Sarah Morgan and wait for her to start a conversation with you about her time aboard the UC Dauntless.
It should be noted that Sarah will only invite you to Cassiopeia I if she is your active companion and you have fostered a healthy, romantic relationship with her. Once you have built up your relationship with Sarah, she will ask for your help searching for her lost crew mates at the UC Dauntless crash site on Cassiopeia I.
Exploring Cassiopeia I
The In Memoriam quest marker will prompt you toward Cassiopeia I in the Eta Cassiopeia System. Here, you need to land near Sarah’s Old Campsite and continue to follow the quest marker to find Sarah waiting for you planet side. Once you’ve checked in with Sarah, you’ll be prompted to power up the escape shuttle that she originally used to escape the destruction of the UC Dauntless.
If you have a spare Power Cell, you’ll be able to fast track this part of the quest without climbing a nearby mountain to find the Power Cell Sarah used in the past to send a distress signal. At the peak of the mountain, you’ll be attacked by a half dozen hostile fauna before being directed back to the crashed escape pod.
With the power restored, you’ll need to read the “Telemetry Data – Object Beta” file on the computer to move on to the final stage of the quest. The final stage will push players to a second landing zone on Cassiopeia I, where they will find the crash site of the UC Dauntless and eventually run into a young girl named Sona.
Helping Sona & Romancing Sarah Morgan
After exploring the UC Dauntless crash site, you and Sarah will find evidence of another survivor. Alongside the quest markers, Sarah will lead you to a second escape pod where you will meet Sona, the frightened daughter of Sarah’s former crewmate.
To bolster your relationship with Sarah Morgan as much as possible, you’ll have to track down all the genetags from her deceased crew mates and then convince Sona to leave Cassiopeia I. Once this is accomplished, your next conversation with Sarah will give you the chance to confess your love and officially complete the In Memoriam Companion Quest.
