Starfield’s massive galaxy is full of all sorts of secrets for players to find, oftentimes rewarding players for the effort of exploration. The planet Mars has a massive mining colony, and while exploring the main mine, players can begin the side quest for someone who is looking for the Heart Of Mars.
Luckily, this item is fairly simple to find and acts as a reward for completing the side quest. Before just selling the item outright, it’s important to make sure this item won’t be needed for yet another secret further down the line.
Where To Find The Heart Of Mars
To find the Heart Of Mars, you’ll first need to begin a side quest for it. Travel to Cydonia on Mars and head into the mining colony. In the main room, head to the bottom floor to where the miners are working. Look for Laylah, who will mention the Heart Of Mars and mark its location on the map. Beginning this side quest will mark the cave on the map, letting players immediately fast travel there.
Head into the cave and to the back wall. Track the quest to help locate the pile of rocks that need to be mined with a cutter to obtain the Heart Of Mars. Taking the Heart back to Laylah will complete the quest and have the Heart stay in the player’s inventory.
What To Do With The Heart Of Mars
Keeping the Heart Of Mars is the reward for completing the side quest. In the menu, the item has a value of 28,000 credits, which is quite a hefty sum. Despite having the appearance of a resource, this item is stored in the Miscellaneous section of your inventory, as it doesn’t have any real uses like other resources.
Players have two options with this item: either display it somewhere as a unique trophy or try to sell it. For those who like to decorate, this item is one of the more unique rocks that can be displayed in a home, outpost, or on your spaceship. The other option is to sell this item, but it unfortunately won’t be for the full value. Hold on to this item and, level up the Commerce skill to get the best price, and sell it at any convent merchant. Items sold in this game are only ever sold for a fraction of their listed value, but it’s still one of the best items to sell as a reward for a side quest.
