Monster Train combos and how they work

Advertisements

In a role-playing deck builder like Monster Train, which is filled to the brim with influential and varied choices, the composition of cards and their effects in a deck are integral to the success of the game. However, while some card effects are powerful on their own, the main key to success is combining card effects. In this guide, we’ll look at some of the best card effect combinations in the game of Monster Train.

Multistrike and Attack/Rage Buffs

Simply put, boosting a unit’s attack score with Multistrike is one of the easiest yet most effective combos in the game. Multistrike is an effect that allows a creature to attack more than once; each stack of Multistrike equals an additional attack. Combining this effect with attack buffs such as Fury, which adds +2 attacks per stack, can result in crushing damage.

Infinity and Summoning.

Players who like Endless values will welcome the Endless/Summon combo. When a unit with Endless dies, it moves back to the top of the stack, and the Summon effect is triggered when the creature is cast. This combo allows Summon effects to be continually triggered on a unit, allowing players to endlessly harass bosses.

Burnout and Reform.

Like Endless and Summon combos, Burnout and Reform allow for continuous value generation. Burnout is usually a negative effect, as it is a countdown that kills a unit when it ends. However, along with Reform, which returns the card to your hand and gives it +5 attack and health, these two effects are combined to create massive monsters.

Magical Power and Tuned.

This combination is good for spellcasters who like to apply powerful effects. In other card games, effects that increase spell damage are usually pretty powerful, but Monster Train’s Attuned effect takes this to a whole new level, as it multiplies the magical power of spells, allowing you to deal crushing damage and create combos.

Spikes and regeneration.

Regen and Spikes is a combination designed for players who like to take punishment as well as inflict it. Regen is an effect that allows creatures to regenerate health over time, while Spikes deal damage whenever a creature takes damage; the combination of these two effects allows a creature to outlast its opponents, depleting their health and regenerating its own.

Frostbite and Sweeping.

A powerful combination by area of effect, Frostbite and Sweep combine to destroy multiple enemies for a certain amount of time. Frostbite is a stackable debuff that deals damage to affected creatures at the end of each turn. Combined with Sweep, which forces the squad to attack all enemies, Frostbite will be applied to each affected target, dealing even more damage over time.
