When you think about the combat of The Callisto ProtocolConsidering that because of the genre you will be facing multiple dangers lurking around you will probably want your enemies to be far away from you in order to feel safer. It seems that The Callisto Protocol is not going to please you in this aspect, as the game’s design director says that about half of the combat will be focused on melee.
The Callisto Protocol is the first title from developer Striking Distance Studios.with Dead Space creator Glen Schofield as the lead director of the new game. This promises us a game that could follow the path of the first two games in the Dead Space franchise. But The Callisto Protocol’s combat could change the formula a bit. Although what we saw in the last gameplay seems not to.
The developers of The Callisto Protocol used real references to recreate the game’s gore.
Combat of The Callisto Protocol
The Callisto Protocol takes place in a prison colony on the moon Callisto. of Jupiter 300 years from now and puts players in the shoes of prisoner Jacob Lee, played by Josh Duhamel. Lee is forced to survive an apparent alien invasion of the prison colony. Striking Distance recently unveiled details of its upcoming horror game, such as the means players will need to fight the creatures lurking on Callisto.
The Callisto Protocol’s minimum and recommended requirements revealed.
In a recent interview, the design director Ben Walker talked about the combat of The Callisto Protocol. and what it will mean for players trying to survive the invasion. Walker said the studio was “leaning toward the survival side” by making ammunition more scarce, forcing players to close that gap and emphasize the need to survive:
“Almost half of our combat is melee,” Walker said. And he added that there will be “melee combos” that will “push the enemy away” at the end to give players a moment to regroup before another attack.
The emphasis on melee combat has already been hinted at in the trailers and gameplay Striking Distance has released so far. The Studio seems to be emphasizing the survival aspect of survival horror. something it would enhance by focusing some of The Callisto Protocol’s combat on melee.
