Future Xbox Cloud Gaming add-ons will reduce latency and add keyboard support

Microsoft has discussed upcoming add-ons for Xbox Cloud Gaming, including mouse and keyboard support, and will reduce latency during gameplay. The current list of Xbox games that support keyboard and mouse input is currently small, but as Microsoft promotes its cloud gaming service, that list of games will grow. Microsoft has also announced a new Direct Capture feature in the Display Details API that could reduce latency by 72 ms to 2-12 ms from the current 8-74 ms.

However, this new API has some limitations, such as a maximum resolution of 1440p and no support for dynamic resolution or HDR. The limitations should have minimal impact on developers, since game streaming is currently limited to 720p resolution on mobile devices and 1080p on other platforms. Microsoft also plans to launch several new tools soon to help developers add Direct Capture support to their games.
