Earlier this week, Aspyr confirmed that a bug has now occurred about halfway through the progression of KOTOR 2 on the Nintendo Switch, blocking progression. At the time, it was thought that this made it impossible to finish the game on the console, but it turns out that Aspyr has a workaround that those affected can try.
Aspyr released KOTOR II on the Nintendo Switch earlier this month, and in the third quarter of this year, the team will release Restored Content DLC that will bring cut content back to the game for console players. Before that, however, Aspyr will have to fix a major bug in KOTOR 2. Currently, when players first get to the planet Onderon, a glitch occurs during the cutscene.
However, there is a way around this problem. As it turns out, KOTOR 2 on Switch has a cheat menu available in-game, which can be accessed by triple-clicking the left mouse button. From there you can move your character to another part of Onderon, namely OND504, and skip the scene causing the glitch.
It also turns out that the bug doesn’t affect all players, so there’s a certain series of events that have to happen to cause it. This is probably why the problem didn’t show up during testing. Aspyr will fix the bug in the next patch, but no release date has been given yet.
