It’s unclear whether Kojima is referring to a game or project in a different entertainment medium, especially as Kojima Productions looks to expand into the multimedia world. The Boys series premiered on Amazon in 2019, meaning that this project was probably meant to be Kojima’s next game after the release of Death Stranding. However, as Kojima mentions, that didn’t happen. He is currently working on a recently confirmed Xbox cloud game.

Hideo Kojima abandoned the development of a new title because of its similarities to The Boys.
Kojima has been vocal about his next project since the release of Death Stranding in November 2019. That month, he suggested he was watching horror movies in preparation for a future project, and in April 2020 he said he would like to make a “revolutionary” game in the horror sector. It is possible that this game will be Overdosea horror game starring Margaret Qualley, which came out earlier this year.
