Even before the sale of Embracer Group, Crystal Dynamics was working on its next big game, Tomb Raider. Nothing is officially known yet, but a potential leak revealed a few details.
The Sacred Symbols Podcast (via VGC) claims to have received leaked script pages for the new Tomb Raider game, which is apparently being developed under the code name “Project Jawbreaker.” Like previous Tomb Raider games from CD, the new game will be an action-adventure game set in a realistic modern world facing a life-threatening mysterious event.
In the new game, Lara Croft will become a master of her craft, and she’ll have a team of fellow tomb raiders for this new adventure. In the rebooted trilogy, Croft would occasionally set out with her companions, but was separated from them for most of the journey. The reboot trilogy was also very much Lara Croft’s origin story, so the transition to a more adult and experienced version of the character is a natural next step.
Unfortunately, there is no way to confirm the authenticity of the leaked script. The next Tomb Raider game isn’t out yet, so it may be another year or two before we see the game in reality.
