Perhaps one of the most exciting quest lines players will discover relatively early into a playthrough of Starfield involves infiltrating the Crimson Fleet as part of UC SysDef. This quest kicks off when the player either works for the UC Vanguard long enough or is caught by the Vanguard for smuggling or stealing. It’s an extensive quest chain that culminates in quite a bit of treasure and some pretty shocking battles.
A big part of the faction quest revolves around tracking down Kryx’s Legacy, a legend passed down from the founder of the Crimson Fleet after he escaped from a UC prison colony. But once players discover the Legacy and all its worth, which side deserves it most? This guide will detail who the player should give Kryx’s Legacy to: Crimson Fleet or UC SysDef!

Should You Give Kryx’s Legacy To SysDef Or Crimson Fleet?
One decision other than choosing Crimson Fleet or UC SysDef is deciding who to give the Kryx’s Legacy, as that faction will come out on top. As such, if players want to side with SysDef, hand over the Legacy to Commander Ikande. Otherwise, give it to Delgado of the Crimson Fleet.
No matter which faction players choose, the rewards are mostly the same. Players will receive 250,000 credits for their trouble. But siding with SysDef provides access to the UC Vigilance and companion approval. Alternatively, especially if you’ve joined the Crimson Fleet, you may decide to side with them. Doing so allows the player to fly freely through pirate-owned space without hassle and guarantees lifetime access to The Key.
Ultimately, the choice is the player’s to make. It depends on player alignment, roleplay considerations, and whether they’ve previously completed one side or the other.
The Final Battle
The final battle between UC SysDef and Crimson Fleet forces varies depending on whom the player selects. If players side with SysDef, they will help assault The Key. It would be wise to find space battles to give you a little experience for this battle. The battle first focuses on removing the laser batteries protecting the pirate base.
These lasers strike fast and hard, so players must fly quickly and avoid incoming fire from the defensive batteries and the Crimson Fleet ships. Before long, however, the UC Vigilance will appear to help in the fight. Then, players will storm The Key to take down Delgado.
If players side with the Crimson Fleet, however, they will defend The Key from the UC Vigilance instead. The first part revolves around a space battle, but the player will protect the laser batteries instead. Then, with the space force dwindling, players will join various Crimson Fleet pirates, including Delgado, in storming the UC Vigilance and taking down Commander Ikande. Keep in mind there are many Crimson Fleet quests to get through to join, if you ultimately want to join the Crimson Fleet.
