In Lords of the Fallen, finding the right armor set can make the difference between struggling to survive and steamrolling enemies, especially in the early game, when players typically don’t have a lot of armor to work with. It’s important to know which enemies drop the best pieces of gear or where you can buy a good set of early-game armor pieces.
All enemies in Lords of the Fallen have a drop chance for the weapons they wield, the armor they are wearing, and the type of ammunition they are using. Armor pieces and weapons drop much less frequently than consumables, and it’s hard to tell which armor pieces are worth farming. This is why we’ve compiled a list of the best armor sets available early in the game and where to find them.
7 Corrupted Penitent Armor Set
The Corrupted Penitent Armor set is a relatively light armor set with a high focus on Fire (280) and Wither (193) defenses. It only weighs around 23 points, making it one of the lightest armors players can find in the early game while still offering okay defenses.
The earliest this armor set can be farmed is from the Corrupted Penitent enemy in the Forsaken Fen and Defiled Sepulchre areas. If you’re hoping to mix and match, the torso piece has high fire defense while the leg piece offers very high Wither resistance.
6 Antique Hallowed Sentinel Armor Set
The Antique Hallowed Sentinel Armor Set is the alternate version of the Hallowed Knight armor, offering just a little bit of a different twist on the concept with a more outdated look. Overall, the armor only weighs around 41 points, but it only has three pieces: head, torso, and arms. You’ll have to find a leg piece somewhere else.
This armor set can be obtained from a chest near the Vestige of Agatha in the Pilgrim’s Perch area. It is a very balanced set with a good spread of defenses across the board at the cost of not really excelling at anything.
5 Hallowed Knight Armor Set
The starting armor for the Hallowed Knight Class is a well-balanced, heavy armor set that allows players to get some decent defenses while still being able to mid-roll. It can be bought from Stomund, Captain of the Fidelis at Skyrest, after defeating Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal. It is relatively cheap to buy, making it ideal in the early game when Vigor is hard to come by.
Players will need to invest a bit in Endurance or Vitality to increase their carry weight if they want to make full use of this armor, as its weight does tally up to 56.7 points when all is said and done. Of course, if you are having trouble keeping your carry weight below Heavy, you can swap out some of the pieces for lighter gear to make up the difference.
4 Ardent Penitent Armor Set
Every piece of this set can be farmed by killing the Ardent Penitents in the Pilgrim Perch, one of the starting areas of this game. These are the enemies with the large spiky metal cans on their heads that slam their heads on the ground to deal damage.
The most compelling part of this set is the helm piece, the Ardent Penitent Head Cage, offering a massive 163 in Physical defense at the cost of only 15 weight. The armor set offers a good balance of Physical defense and resistance and can serve players well into the mid-game.
3 Angel Of Void Armor Set
The Angel of Void Armor set is a medium armor set with balanced stats that can be used in any situation. It weighs around 50 and provides decent physical defenses (319) and excellent Wither defenses (394).
It can be obtained by solving the Umbral tumor puzzle in the Forsaken Fen swamp area just across the Vestige. The complete set is located in a chest that can be accessed after opening the Umbral Tumor on the left.
2 Udirangr Warwolf Armor Set
The starting equipment for the Udirangr Warwolf class is also the most balanced armor set in the early game. If you didn’t pick this class, you could easily buy it from Thehk-Ihir, the hunch-backed merchant at the Forsaken Fen.
The Udirangr Warwolf set shines when it comes to elemental resistances, preventing build-up from enemy attacks. Weighing at only about 35 points allows it to be easily worn by most classes even if they have little investment in Endurance or Vitality, making it a highly desirable early game set that can work for any class.
1 Blackfeather Ranger Armor Set
The Blackfeather Ranger set is the starting set for the class with the same name. Heavily inspired by the Bloodborne aesthetic, it can be bought from Thehk-Ihir at the Forsaken Fen, just like the Udirangr Warwolf set.
The set weighs about 35 points, allowing all classes to wear it, and offers really high defenses considering the weight of the equipment. While players who want to wear heavy armor should look elsewhere, the majority of everyone else cannot go wrong with the Blackfeather Ranger set in the early game.
