Bethesda’s Starfield is full of unique firearms, but if you are looking for a melee weapon that is powerful enough to carve your way through waves of gun-toting space pirates, your options drop dramatically.
Fortunately, buried deep within the seedy underworld of Neon, there is a katana that will let you play the role of space samurai while exploring Starfield. The Wakizashi is a powerful melee weapon that will take you back to the days spent carving through enemies on the fields of Skyrim. It’s one-shot potential and cool design make it well worth the effort required to help the Ebbside Strikers cure Neon of its corruption.
Where to Buy the Wakazashi Katana
After completing The Audition Quest for the Ebbside Strikers gang on Neon, you’ll be directed to speak with a member of the gang named Hatchet. Hatchet’s shop sells a number of modified firearms, but its truest gem is the aforementioned Wakazashi Katana. The Wakazashi can be bought for 6140 credits and has a base damage of 49, triple that of the average Combat Knife.
How To Find Madame Savauge’s Bar
Before you are able to join the Ebbside Strikers and gain access to Hatchet’s exclusive shop, you’ll have to find your way to Madame Savauge’s. Her bar can be found in the Volii system under the glowing lights of Neon on Volii Alpha.
After you land on Neon, find your way to Reliant Medical and move down through the alleyway nearby. You’ll find a door labeled “Ebbside” which will lead you directly to the entrance of Madame Sauvage’s bar.
Joining the Ebbside Strikers
After moving through Neon and locating the entrance to Madame Savauge’s, you’ll have the chance to speak with a citizen who knows Andrea Sandoval and the Ebbside Strikers. Andrea can be found next to the bar inside Madam Savauge’s. She will guide you to the leader of the Ebbside Strikers.
After a short conversation with Briggs, you’ll be prompted to start The Audition, your first official quest for the Strikers. The Audition quest is a simple stealth operation that involves sneaking past three members of the disciples to collect information on a rival gangs’ weapons supplier. Sneak past the three Disciples, grab the slate, and return to Briggs to complete The Audition.
The Wakazashi Katana
Once you complete The Audition and become an honorary member of the Ebbside Strikers, you can buy the Wakazashi from Hatchet’s shop for 6140 credits. Below you’ll find a handful of tips that can help turn you into a real space samurai with the Wakazashi.
- The Wakazashi can unleash a three-hit combo, making it possible to cut through multiple foes without resetting the weapon’s slow start-up animation.
- The melee button gives you access to a piercing attack that has better range and a higher damage output than the base attack.
- Learn your enemy’s attack patterns before sprinting into battle. Enemy numbers, line of sight, and reload patterns are all important information to keep track of.
- Max out your dueling skill tree as quickly as possible to increase your damage output with the Wakazashi.
