Regardless of your preferred build, chances are you’re going to use a ton of cyberware while playing Cyberpunk 2077. These upgrades allow you to do everything from double jump and slow down time to attach deadly blades to your arms and so much more. A lot of these special abilities have a cooldown period attached to them in order to prevent them from becoming too powerful. However, you can bypass that to some extent thanks to the Axolotl.
The Axolotl is a frontal cortex cyberware implant that reduces the cooldown of all other cyberware upgrades every time you neutralize an enemy. The cooldown reduction starts at 9%, but can reach as high as 12.5%. In addition, the implant also grants V an extra 0.5% armor per Attribute Point. The Axolotl is lowkey one of the best cyberware upgrades in Cyberpunk 2077 and this guide will show you how you can get your hands on one.
Where To Buy The Axolotl
The easiest way of acquiring an Axolotl implant is to simply buy one from a Ripperdoc. There’s a little catch in that only Ripperdocs from Dogtown sell this implant. You can’t go to the new section of Night City right off the bat if you’re doing a fresh playthrough, but you’ll be able to easily enter Dogtown after you finish the Transmission main job and gain access to Phantom Liberty content.
An Axolotl implant will set you back a little over 100K eddies. That’s not a huge amount for some players, but for others, it’s a small fortune. You can get the upgrade cheaper than usual if you have enough Street Cred, but you’ll still need to pay a pretty penny for it regardless.
How To Get An Axolotl For Free
If you don’t feel like forking out 100K+ eddies for a single upgrade, we’ve got some good news for you. There’s a way of acquiring an Axolotl for free if you don’t mind getting your hands dirty and doing a bunch of grunt work for Regina Jones. The Fixer offers V a variety of gigs throughout the course of the game, the last of which comes with a special reward – a shiny Axolotl implant.
Regina Jones has two dozen gigs to offer, ranging from basic escort quests to highly complex missions with tons of side objectives. Upon completing all of these gigs, Regina will give V a final side job known as Last Call. For once, this isn’t more busywork. The whole job is just Regina thanking V for all their hard work and directing them toward the stash in their apartment where they can find an Axolotl.
