Whether it’s customizing your ship, building outposts, or buying new weapons and suits, almost everything in Starfield requires you to have plenty of credits racked up. Since its release last month, players have been discovering the quickest and easiest methods to get their hands on credits, and now one player has worked out how to sell unregistered ships for some easy money.
Reddit user lxz72 took to the Starfield subreddit earlier this week to share their discovery, with fellow players praising the user for sharing the secret. It’s worth bearing in mind that Bethesda likely doesn’t want players earning credits this way, so it’s a possibility that the studio patches the glitch in a future update. But for those wanting to make the most of it while they still can, here’s what you need to do.
According to the user, players simply need to visit the ship technician (either in Akila City or The Key, as these are the two currently confirmed locations where the glitch works) and change their home ship. Whilst visiting the ship technician, take a look at the ships that he has for sale and press ‘A’ on the controller to sell one of your ships.
As long as you’ve set your home ship, this should be the first one that appears on your screen when you attempt to sell a ship. You will then need to press ‘LB’ and ‘A’ and release both buttons at the same time. The user states that doing this will make your unregistered ship appear on the screen with the option to sell it for the value on the screen.
The user has reportedly done this glitch a total of five times with success but states that they do not know if the glitch works on PC. Thankfully, a fellow user responded by saying “I can confirm that this works for PC! Just literally did it.” But they did note that they were also using an Xbox controller on PC whilst doing it.
As we mentioned previously, there’s a strong chance that Bethesda patches this in a future update, so sell those ships while you still can.
