Lords of the Fallen introduces a few new mechanics veterans of Soulslike games might not be familiar with. The developers have tried their best to set the game apart from the competition from other games in the genre.
One of the new mechanics in LOTF (Lords of the Fallen) is Soulflay. Soulflay is an ability players get access to from the Umbral Lamp right from the start of the game. It works both as a utility to interact with puzzles and as a combat tool to deal damage to particularly hard-to-face enemies. But Soulflaying consumes Soulflay Charges, and they don’t recover easily. Here is how to get these charges back.

How To Fill Soulflay Charges
There are two ways to recover Soulflay Charges in Lords of the Fallen.
Resting
Resting at a Vestige restores all your available Soulflay charge slots to full. This works with both normal Vestiges and with Vestiges created by planting Vestige Seedlings. Resting is the ultimate reset button to restore everything back to full.
Siphoning
If you’re out in the field and don’t want to go back and rest at a Vestige, the alternative is Siphoning certain enemies and blisters to regain Soulflay charges. Blisters are blue, glowing pustules that only exist in the Umbral Realm. But players can siphon these Blisters from the realm of the living by just using their Umbral Lamp and pressing the Siphon button. For Keyboard/Mouse, press CTRL + Left-Click, and for Controllers, press LT + RB.
Defeating Enemies
Killing enemies in Lords of the Fallen also refills your Soulflay Charges, albeit slowly. The purples wisps of energy that are often dropped by enemies on death can be picked up when you approach them. This is the least efficient method but the easiest to execute.
How To Use Soulflay Charges
Soulflay Charges can be used to make enemies vulnerable by sucking their souls out of their bodies. Target an enemy, focus your Umbral Lamp on them, and use the Soulflay button (Left-Click for PC, RT for Xbox).
Once an enemy is Soulflayed, you can attack their soul outside of their body with no chance of retaliation from their main body. Attacking this soul converts the damage you deal into Withered Health for the enemy in question.
One thing to note is that targeting and using the Soulflay ability on inanimate targets does not consume a Soulflay Charge. This means that if you’re out in the Umbral Realm and need to solve a puzzle by Soulflaying an Umbral node, you will not expend a Soulflay charge. It’s free.
