Spider-Man 2 has multiple different upgrade tokens for players to earn and use to upgrade their stats and gadgets. Side content will become more available as main missions introduce the content that will later populate New York.
Completing side quests will continue stories not touched by the main missions while also giving players large amounts of XP and upgrade materials. While side quests are not a necessity, they greatly help prepare players for the more difficult battles later in the game.
How To Get Hero Tokens
Hero Tokens are one of the more difficult-to-get upgrade materials, as they are mostly obtained through side story missions instead of just taking pictures. The best way to get Hero Tokens early into the game is by completing FNSM Requests, which appear in the app while free roaming or after completing main missions. After completing the Coney Island mission, Mysterium’s will also appear around the map that can be completed for Hero Tokens depending on how fast you are.
Both Myles and Peter have unique side stories that happen in the form of the Cultural Museum and The Flame missions, which can all be completed for decent amounts of Hero Tokens for each mission. Hunter Bases also reward Hero tokens and are unlocked after clearing out multiple Hunter Blinds in a section of the city. The final way to get Hero Tokens is Symbiote Nests, unlocked much later in the story than the other options.
How To Use Hero Tokens
Hero Tokens are one of the various upgrade materials players can find and use to upgrade their Suit Tech and Gadgets. There are enough Hero Tokens to be found to upgrade everything to the maximum level, so you’ll only need to pick and choose your upgrades early on. Hero Tokens are the hardest upgrade materials to get, so always double-check an upgrade before using them to make sure that’s what you need at that point in the game.
