Spider-Man 2 offers players a few side stories to complete alongside the main story, some being tied to a specific Spider-Man. For Peter, he will work alongside the new vigilante of the city, Wraith, and her quest to stop The Flame.
While the first few missions will seem like just another villain of the week quest for Spider-Man, the final mission ends with quite a bang and with some huge story implications, with the final phone call with Wraith having a name-drop that may set up a huge villain in the next game, Cletus Kasady.

Who Is Cletus Kasady In The Comics
Cletus Kasady was a mass murderer who was locked in prison for life due to his crimes. He is beyond mad, finding joy in torturing his victims both physically and mentally before killing them. While he is a very dangerous man as is, he eventually bonds with a Symbiote known as Carnage.
Carnage is the offspring of Venom and bonds with Cletus after he and Eddie Brock (the original host for Venom in the comics) share a jail cell together. Carnage, along with Cletus’ murderous intent, creates a Symbiote monster that far exceeds Venom’s powers. Cletus and Carnage both want destruction and to murder people, giving into each other’s wills and empowering each other, unlike with other Symbiote hosts who fight to keep their Symbiote’s wills in check.
Despite being an offspring of Venom, Carnage and Venom are enemies and fight often in various storylines. Carnage is one of the strongest Symbiotes in existence, and along with Cletus as its host, becomes one of Spider-Man’s most dangerous villains. Due to its immense power, it takes Spider-Man and Venom teaming up to stop Carnage.
Cletus Kasady In The Game
At the end of the final mission of The Flame, we see Cletus taking another Symbiote from the crashed Oscorp train. While it doesn’t directly state that Symbiote is Carnage, it does have a slight red coloration like Carnage does in the comics, implying Cletus now has his Symbiote, and they can bond anytime. It’s still to be seen if this villain will appear as a DLC storyline or a primary antagonist in the third game.
