Games based on other properties need to get a lot of legal work out of the way to know which characters they can and cannot use. Properties like Marvel that share a heavily interconnected universe bustling with numerous big names can sometimes see such characters portrayed in wildly different ways.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 brings a lot of familiar faces, such as Martin Li and Norman Osborn. It also adds some new ones, like Cletus Kasady. These include villains, cameos, and side characters to help develop a rich story with lots of life and depth to it. One such character is Cindy Moon, more commonly known by her heroic alias Silk.
Cindy Moon In The Comics
In the Marvel Comics, Cindy Moon is one of the lesser-known spider characters in the long-running Spider-Man comic entries — with her first appearance in 2014. This is due to her not having as many appearances in other adapted media. The story of her powers retcons a major element in the story of Peter Parker’s Origins as Spider-Man.
Peter Parker acquired his powers from being bitten by a radioactive spider on his hand — and it was always implied that he was the only one. However, in Cindy Moon’s origin story, the very same spider bit her on her ankle after falling from the hand it bit Peter Parker on. For the next 13 years, she would reside in a locked bunker stocked with everything she would need to survive to prevent being found by Morlun, Devourer of Totems.
Morlun is a vampiric being that has existed for hundreds of years and feeds on the core powers of the universe. Peter Parker discovers Cindy’s existence and sets out to free her from the bunker. He discovers that she already knows the code to open the door and has chosen to stay locked inside the bunker to hide from Morlun.
Peter informs her that Morluns had been killed to help her realize she is safe and able to venture back into the outside world — unfortunately, Morlun would return from the dead. Cindy would adopt the moniker of Silk and become one of the many spider-themed superheroes of Marvel Comics. She also becomes the girlfriend of Peter Parker.

Spoilers Ahead
Throughout the entirety of the game’s main story, players will not see the appearance of Cindy Moon. This is due to her only appearing in a cutscene that plays after the credits have concluded. She appears at the very end of the cutscene being introduced by Albert — Albert Moon being the name of Cindy’s brother. This leaves a lot of potential for where the game franchise intends to venture after the events of Spider-Man 2’s story. Similar to how it expanded upon Miles in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It is unclear how she will be portrayed and what roles she will play in future game entries.
