Chapter 4 of the Dead Space Remake opens with a now-operational USG Ishimura. The only problem is all of those asteroids and debris threatening to breach the hull and ruin Isaac’s day. His next task is to get the ADS Cannons operational, which means redirecting power from a few different locations around the ship. This guide will lead you through each one, step by careful step.
Isaac’s first task is to get to the Captain’s Nest and meet Hammond. Use the Locator (R3) to guide you to the nearest tram station, hop on board, and select the Bridge from the options (furthest to the right). It’s a straight shot through the Atrium with plenty of loot to search out on the way. There’s an elevator at the back of the Atrium which takes Isaac directly to Hammond. Watch the scene unfold, hatch a plan with Hammond, and gain access to Security Clearance Level 2.

Security Room
There were two Security Clearance Level 2 doors passed on the way to the Captain’s Nest, one in the Atrium and one in the preceding hallway (Bridge Hall Storage Room). Loot the one in the preceding hallways first for some bonus items, then head into the Atrium and approach the Level 2 door. Careful now, a new enemy is about to burst forth and cause some ruckus. This enemy is called a Brute, and can be difficult to take down without knowing the trick.
The Brute
The key to defeating a Brute is combining Stasis with your weapon of choice. First, slow down the Brute. Now, while the enemy is frozen in place, circle around to its back. There are a bunch of glowing orange weak points on its back Isaac can exploit. Fire away and try to take them all out. If you need to use Stasis a second time, it’s well worth doing so. These are difficult enemies to defeat any other way. Don’t forget to loot this enemy, as it will drop a Power Node.
Activate The Elevators
The Locator’s mission instructs Isaac to activate the elevator inside the room the Brute so politely exited. Head inside, upgrade your gear to your preferences at the Upgrade Bench, then flip the elevators on. Three new missions will pop up at this point, all of which are about rerouting power from different areas of the ship (Mining Administration, Electrical Systems, and Water Purification). Let’s tackle each one, in turn, to get those ADS Cannons blasting away.
Mining Administration
Take the elevator in the center of the Atrium down to Floor 2. Head through the first door (Administration Access Corridor) into an unexpected vacuum, stop by the Storage Room for another Power Node, then head right into the Mining Administration Station. There’s a nifty new weapon in the Records Room to Isaac’s right (the Contact Beam), so be sure to pick that up.
Circuit Breaking
The electrics are firing everywhere, so step carefully. The Main Fuses room on the left has a fuse Isaac can break to open the Admin Server Maintenance Room on the right. There’s a Text Log and a Power Node in there. There’s an Upgrade Bench in the Coolant Monitoring room, as well as some extra gear. Once ready, head to the far end of the room to locate the Circuit Breaker for the area. Switch power over to ADS Cannons.
Watch out for the quick Necromorph ambush that occurs as you do so.
Electrical Systems
Head back through the vacuum room and enter the central elevator. This time select Floor 3. Head towards Electrical Systems (door on the right). Stop in on the Break Room (first door on the right) for some interesting lore, and an intriguing bit of imagery. The room in the center (Electrical Systems Storage) appears to be locked, but can actually be opened through the broken window in the back. Use Kinesis to move the boxes and shoot the door lock to get it open and grab the Weapon Upgrade on the shelf. The only other unlocked door is on the northern wall, conveniently labeled Electrical Systems.
More Electric Floors
The Electrical Systems room lives up to the name and is a bit trickier than the last room with exposed wiring running through the floors. Time Isaac’s movements carefully to avoid getting fried, and take full advantage of the hazard by luring Necromorphs into it wherever possible. There’s a Stasis Recharge Station about halfway through, as well as a second Brute. Make sure Isaac is fully charged up, apply Stasis, shoot the Brute in the back, grab the Power Node, and head to the end of the room. Dodge the snake-like hot wires, flip the breaker over to ADS Cannons, and get ready for the final stage.
Water Purification
The floors are blessedly benign as Isaac retreats from Electrical Systems and heads back for the Elevator. Take it up to Floor 1. As you exit the elevator, circle around to the other side to find the elevator to Water Purification. The Circuit Breaker is almost suspiciously too easy to attain here and will be available in the first main room. Of course, it’s never that easy in Dead Space. Flip the power over to ADS and await further instructions.
Cannon Calibration
Time to head through the Exterior Access door. Pick up the Schematic in the EVA Prep Room on the way, then head out into actual dead space. There are three yellow exclamation marks that mark Isaac’s targets. Across from each one is an oxygen refill station (very important). Simply interact with each ADS Cannon, use L2 to aim and A to fire, and blast a few asteroids to calibrate each cannon. The final cannon includes a few Lurkers to disrupt Isaac’s work, so be wary. Isaac can also pick up White’s RIG, an item glowing purple, which can be found just past the third ADS Cannon. This will come in handy later.
With that, the cannons on online, calibrated, and ready to save the USG Ishimura from the endless barrage of asteroids. Head back to the elevator for a little surprise to wrap up Chapter 4.
