Sky: Children of the Light is giving its players a special treat — along with a few tricks. Following the arrival of the latest season comes Days of Mischief to celebrate Halloween with all players who have progressed past the Vault of Knowledge. Beware an abundance of Dark Creatures and pranks littering the Cackling Crab.
Days of Mischief started on October 23 at 12:00 AM PST, and will end on November 12 at 11:59 PM PST. There are quite a lot of spooky things to look forward to, including new cosmetics of course. Here’s everything you need to know about the latest event, including where to find all the event currency.
Days Of Mischief Event Spirit
When you spawn into Home, you’ll see the event spirit, Herald of Mischief, on a little hill near the shore behind you. When you speak to them, they’ll begin to tell a tale before complaining about having a foggy head. They’ll then propose to investigate what’s going on. Talk to them once again and they’ll take you to the event location (unfortunately, you do have to go through this dialogue each time).
How To Reach The Cackling Crab
The event location for the Days of Mischief is the Cackling Crab. It’s a location within the Vault of Knowledge’s Secret Area (also known as the Office), only accessible during this time of year. The location is decked out with Dark Dragons, Dark Crabs, and some sprites ready to play some pranks. The Herald of Mischief will teleport you directly there, but for those that plan to visit every day, I suggest the manual route.
What you’ll want to do is go through the Vault of Knowledge realm gate. Once you’re in, fly up to the left side of the area and turn around to the wall behind you. You’ll see a very thin hallway that you can walk through, which will take you into a bright room full of grass and flowers. You normally need a special cape to get through the Spirit Door, but if you talk to the spirit waiting there, they’ll help you through free of charge. Continue on inside, and you’ll see another gate you can go through. This gate will take you to the Office.
The Office will be a lot spookier than it normally is. The sky is blood-red, and there’s a giant crescent moon in the sky. You’ll find many Dark Dragons flying about the area as well (don’t worry – these Dark Dragons are perfectly harmless). The real attraction is the Darkness growing around and inside the building — some in the shape of pumpkins? All of these will give you some wax, so it’s worth stopping by the Office each day during the event.
Within the office will also be the Herald of Mischief. If you try to talk to them, they’ll groggily pace around the kitchen table for a moment. They’ll then go into the restrooms, hinting (and seemingly pleading) for you to go into the one on the right. In there will be some sort of black hole. Interacting with it will suck you into the Cackling Crab.
Days Of Mischief Activities
Once you get inside, you’ll be greeted to a large hole in the ground with a Dark Dragon periodically flying over and into it. You’re actually able to ride on the Dark Dragon, much like you would a roller coaster, if you interact with it while it flies past you. Across the hole will be a spirit known as Krill Cat that will imbue you with his curse, making you look dusty like the Dark Dragons. This “curse” can be canceled at any moment in the Spells section of your inventory, but you can also spread it to other players.
Venturing into the hole, you’ll see a cutscene of the Herald of Mischief having a nightmare. After that, the Mischief Staff Skidmore will get carried away by crabs into a hole (if you’re riding a Dark Dragon when diving in the hole, this cutscene will interrupt your ride if you haven’t played it yet, so watch out for that). The Herald of Mischief will explain that he had a nightmare of that exact thing once you talk to him, before realizing that Skidmore actually is gone, and you’ll have to find him.
Behind the Herald of Mischief is a large cauldron with green liquid. Using your flame to light the green ball will bring the cauldron to a boil, eventually causing green wax to come out and orbit around for you to pick up. There will also be spells in the form of spiky balls that you can apply to your Sky Kid by burning them. These spells are randomized and can range from various Days of Mischief cosmetics to height alteration spells. You can only have three different spells active at a time and one of each type, so make sure to cancel one you’re already using if you want another
Unfortunately, a wide range of the cosmetics you’ll see here won’t be available during this event, so keep an eye out for how thatgamecompany plans to bring them back.
Travel into the hole that Skidmore was carried away in, and you’ll hear his cries as you venture further in. You’ll find him behind a locked door. Beware though — the switch to open it is actually a trap. Use it at your own risk. To actually get to Skidmore in the prison, you’ll want to go back the way you came and look along the ground for a lit lantern. Next to that lantern will be a narrow passageway leading to him.
There’s plenty more to see further inside. There are more staff members possessed by Dark Crabs, mindlessly trudging around a shallow ring of water with a campfire in the center. The water will frequently erupt in flames to bring you a pumpkin that you can light for more wax. At the back of the area will be the red gaze of a giant crab. Getting spotted will cause it to place a curse on the area, making it infested with lots of Dark Crabs.
While you can exit the area from the large staircase behind the crab hole, the Cackling Crab location is a huge maze in and of itself. There are lots of places to go with twists and turns around each corner. You’re also bound to find several candles, giving you extra light. This is all within the first week of the event – changes are bound to come as the event progresses, so look out for more tricks coming your way. You’ll even be cursed with a Dark Crab transformation beyond the second week.

Also, by entering the room to the left of the exit staircase, you’ll find a sewer pipe that should have a crab inside. That crab will be offering some mischievous trick spells of its own, as well as a Dark Dragon Repellent Spell for one Ascended Candle. The Traveling Boat back at Home will offer a few of the event’s spell for purchase with regular Candles.
How To Acquire Event Currency
The Event Currency for Days of Mischief is a ticket that takes the shape of green candy. You can obtain six of these Candy Tickets each day, four of which will be hidden around the Cackling Crab. You’ll be able to get the other two by getting cursed by Krill Cat and by getting in the giant crab’s spotlight. Be careful when searching for them, as other players could be posing as Candy Tickets with a spell.
The four Candy Tickets hidden throughout the area are in set locations that are supposed to rotate with each day. However, there’s been an instance of the candy spawning in the same locations two days in a row. Below are the expected days that each rotation will be on, and the location of the Candy Tickets in each of them.
Rotation A: October 23, October 27, October 30, November 2, November 5, November 8, November 11
- Next to the tombstones under the tree roots.
- To the left of the Cauldron.
- On the right side of the giant crab.
- Near the Mischief Staff.
Rotation B: October 24, October 25, October 28, October 31, November 3, November 6, November 9, November 12
- To the left of the hill behind the exit portal, at the top of the staircase.
- On a small platform under a cobweb, that will be behind you as you go up the exit staircase.
- On a white mound behind the hole in the ground above the exit staircase.
- Past the giant crab, in a small cave that will open up once it looks at you.
Rotation C: October 26, October 29, November 1, November 4, November 7, November 10
- On top of a lantern to the left of the Cauldron.
- Inside the Sewer Crab’s room, to the left of the exit staircase.
- Inside a campfire in front of a bench, in a room to the right of the exit staircase.
- Inside the room of a trapped Spirit. (You can reach this room through a passageway beyond some gravestones, between the campfire room and the prop closet.).
A Candy Ticket can be bought form the Traveling Boat back at Home, either for two Ascended Candles or six regular Candles. If you participate in most of the event and get all six Candy Tickets each day, you won’t need to do this. Think of it as a way to catch up or get some of those Halloween items early.
