Each area in Starfield will have an abundance of quests for you to complete. You can find them through other quests or just randomly when you talk with the locals around the area. Some of those side quests you’ll complete within minutes while others will take a bit.
When it comes to The Audition, you’ll receive this quest when you go to a particular part of Neon’s Ebbside. Around Madame Sauvage’s Place, a local will tell you about two gangs who are rivals in the area which will then begin the mission.
Location
You will want to go to the Ebbside of Neon in Volii Alpha located in the Volii System. You’ll find the local just outside of Madame Sauvage’s Place.
Meet The Ebbside Strikers
Inside Madame Sauvage’s Place you’ll find the Ebbside Strikers. You’ll be approaching Andrea Sandoval next to the bar upon entering. She will attempt to tell you off, but Madame Sauvage will tell her not to bother her customers. Andrea warns you that upstairs is gang territory.
You’ll have the choice of being sarcastic and telling her if she’s trying to scare you, that she’s failing badly. If you choose this, she will take slight offense to it. She will tell you that back in the day people were afraid of the Strikers, however since the Disciples have them stuck in the bar times have changed.
You can ask what the Disciples are like. She will tell you that while the Strikers will rob you and only hurt you if you corner them, the Disciples will torture people for fun. Tell her that you want to meet with whoever’s in charge. She will ultimately tell you the only way you can meet with Briggs is if you join the Ebbside Strikers. You can tell her to take you to Briggs, and you’ll think about joining, to which she will do just that.
Meet Briggs
When you finish going up the flights of stairs, you’ll come to a small office-like room and Briggs will be sitting behind the desk with a guard-like person, Vogal Fuches, next to him. Andrea will tell him you want to join, and he will ask why if you’re really interested in joining as they haven’t had a recruit in a while.
If you have the Neon Street Rat trait you can tell him that you remember how bad the Disciples were. Briggs personally doesn’t want to kill people, he’d rather just steal. He claims their gang is like a family, and he makes sure everyone is taken care of. Before you can join, Briggs wants to know a little bit about you.
If you tell him you’ve carved a name through the Settled Systems, he will say having someone skilled in violence will be very useful. You can choose to tell him you’re involved with the Constellation, that you have mysterious powers, or that you are the Mantis.
If you choose to tell him about your powers, he will tell you you’re trying to impress a gang, not a hook-up. He will tell you that you have to pass a test and go up against the Disciples. He wants to find out who’s been hooking them up with military hardware.
Acquire Disciples’ Slate
Next you’re going to need the Disciples’ slate. Follow the marker on your screen and head out of the Striker zone. Straight ahead from the bar you’re in, go back through the door to Bayu Plaza in Neon. When you head up the stairs, start walking over to The Emporium next to the Sieghart’s Outfitters across the way. Ebbside will be to the right of The Emporium.
When you get through the doors, go to the right of Euphorika. When you come to the railing take a left and go through the back door. When you enter, there will be a Disciple straight ahead that you can take out. A few more will come up the stairs in front of you, but they should be one shot kills depending on how well your weapon ranks.
Don’t forget to loot the bodies, most of them will have ammo and some random items. Go down the stairs and veer to your right then walk straight ahead towards the marker on your screen. Next to a crate you’ll find a storage box holding the Disciples’ Slate, a digipick, and modified magshot.
Give Briggs Disciples’ Slate
Once you have the slate, go back to Briggs at Madame Sauvage’s. If you didn’t utilize stealth, he’ll chuckle a little, but he’ll be impressed that you obtained the slate. He’ll tell you that you’re in and if you tell him you’re glad you could help, he laughs saying you’re smart for trying to score points with the boss.
He will tell you to get some rest, meet with the other gang members, stock up on equipment then report back for a job he has in mind for you. This will complete the Audition mission.

Briggs will reward you with 6300 credits along with 50 XP.
