Who Is Chameleon In The Game

Chameleon Watching Spider-Man

While exploring the apartment Spider-Man is led to, he quickly makes the connection that this apartment is Chameleon’s. As he explores, a voiceover clearly meant for Kraven gives more context in that Chameleon and Kraven are brothers, and there is clearly bad blood between the two as Chameleon left Kraven a cyanide-infused drink. Chameleon’s voiceover and computers reveal he has been tracking Kraven since he arrived in New York and that he disagrees with the suicide hunt Kraven was on. Through the Unidentified Targets, it’s also clear that Kraven was attempting to track down his brother but wasn’t able to find him.

It’s also seen that Chameleon has one of Spider-Man’s old masks, and Peter even remarks that the two have fought before in this universe. After escaping the apartment, Chameleon is seen knowing Kraven has been killed and vowing to complete what his brother started, killing Spider-Man; possibly setting up a new villain for either future DLC or the next game.

Chameleon’s Powers & Abilities

Chameleon In The Comics Sitting In Front Of Masks

In the many iterations of Chameleon in the comics, he has no actual superpowers; instead, he uses makeup or technology to look like other people, along with incredible acting skills to assume the identity of anyone. While exploring his apartment, it’s shown that this version of Chameleon uses holographic technology to make himself appear like other people.

In a few comics, Chameleon is shown taking the same super-human serums that Kraven The Hunter takes in an attempt to match his brother’s physical strength. Having been beaten by Spider-Man once before in the game’s timeline, and now knowing Kraven was defeated, it’s possible this Chameleon will also attempt to take strength-altering serums to be able to stand toe-to-toe with Spider-Man in future encounters.
