The Datura ship in Starfield is a missable vessel that can only be acquired through a hidden activity. The ship is tied to the Ryujin faction quest where you must choose a specific set of dialogue when interacting with a character named Simon.
If you’re on a completionist run, acquiring this ship becomes paramount to achieve your goal. The following guide provides step-by-step instructions on acquiring the Datura ship, along with a unique weapon while you’re at it.

To get the activity related to the Datura ship, you must embark on the Ryujin faction quest called Top Secrets. Progress through the quest until you receive an objective that directs you to rendezvous with Simon Ryczek.
Simon is located in the city of Cydonia on Mars. Speak to him and follow through the dialogue choices until you reach a point where you can persuade him, hear about a side job, or pay 10,000 credits. You MUST choose to hear about the side job.
After this, a new objective will be added under the Top Secrets quest, directing you to find the Datura in Saturn’s orbit. Upon fast traveling to Saturn’s orbit, you’ll receive an incoming transmission from the Datura. Accept the transmission to speak with an NPC and choose the following dialogues in the specified order to board the ship:
- Are you looking for a man named Simon Ryczek?
- I’m here to save your life.
- I can stop Simon Ryczek from hunting you.
- Simon will stop if he believes you’re dead.
- Simon wants your gun as proof of death.
Following this, the NPC aboard the Datura will ask you to dock with the ship and board to collect her gun.
Piloting The Datura
Once you’re aboard the Datura, approach the cockpit to find a character named Malai Liskova. To complete the quest objective, you must speak to Malai and choose to either persuade or kill her. Both options allow you to get her gun, the Ember, which also happens to be a unique and missable pistol in the game. Ember is a laser pistol that not only looks cool, but also comes with six pre-installed mods, and with a capacity of installing a total of seven mods.
However, to pilot the ship, you must attack and kill Malai aboard the Datura. Next, pilot the ship and travel to another planet. Since the Datura is technically stolen, you must visit any ship services technician in the game to register the ship.
Datura Ship Features
The Datura is a class A ship with a crew capacity of four and a grav jump range of 17 light years. Besides just being a unique ship that can be collected, the Datura doesn’t offer anything substantial to dramatically improve your starfaring experience.
While the ship values at 66,654 credits, choosing to sell it will only net you about 10% of its actual cost post-registration.
