Updated by Abigail Angell on October 29th, 2023: To assist players looking for the best gear for their Starfield Playthroughs, the statistics of the Hunter Armor and The Unmitigated Violence have been added. In addition, pictures have been changed to show the armor of the player rather than the NPC known as the Hunter.

Where To Find The Hunter Armor

The Hunter armor is a spacesuit with stacked stats. It is guaranteed to have:

  • 50 Resistance to Airborne
  • 50 Resistance to Corrosive
  • 50 Resistance to Thermal
  • 50 Resistance to Radiation
  • 246 Resistance to Physical
  • 246 Resistance to Energy
  • 246 Resistance to Electromagnetic

However, getting it is no simple feat – because it is a Starborn Armor set, you’ll need to reach New Game Plus 10 in order to receive it. This means you’ll need to beat New Game Plus nine times. Then, when you enter the world on your tenth run, you’ll automatically have the Hunter’s Armor in your inventory. It is officially called Starborn Spacesuit Venator. It is quite a lot of work to acquire this legendary armor, but it is well worth the effort.

How To Get Unmitigated Violence Rifle

A screenshot of the details on the Hunter's Weapon

The weapon that matches the Hunter Armor is Unmitigated Violence, a Legendary Energy Rifle dealing 125 damage. This Rifle is desirable primarily due to its ability to give negative status effects to enemies – it will sometimes Demoralize or Frenzy targets. As an added bonus, it comes equipped with six modifications.

  • Amplifier
  • Large battery
  • Long barrel
  • Recon Laser Sight
  • Reflex Sight
  • Stealth Lasers

This Rifle is lootable from the Hunter after you kill him, which happens organically if you side with the Emissary near the end of the main storyline. However, you must loot the weapon before looting the Hunter’s artifacts. Otherwise, the weapon will disappear.

In addition, it should be noted that Unmitigated Violence does not remain equipped in your inventory when you begin a new world with New Game Plus. Many players have been disappointed with this, as it makes you unable to play with the gun for a prolonged period of time.

While beating New Game Plus is a time commitment, ignoring all side quests means it can be done in a few hours. Additionally, players will receive a new set of gear on each cycle of New Game Plus so that you won’t be under-geared. By the time you’ve beat this mode nine times to receive the Hunter’s armor, you’ll likely be level fifty to sixty.
