Lords of the Fallen is a Soulslike that’s much more traditional than recent titles like Lies of P. The game’s setting is heavily inspired by the actual Souls games, but it leaves a little bit to be desired on the optimization side of things.
The game only has two ways for the player to deal damage to enemies, melee and ranged. There are a multitude of ranged options available to the player even if you decide to go without learning magic, but all of them use the same ammo type.
How To Use Your Ranged Option
If you missed the cues during the tutorial, you might be confused about how to use your ranged weapon in combat.
- Open your equipment menu and Navigate to the “Weapons” section on the top left.
- Select the hand next to your secondary weapon to equip a bow/crossbow or magic catalyst, or select one of the 3 slots underneath to equip various long ranged options.
- Pick the weapon of your choice and leave the menu.
- Press 2 to bring your ranged weapon to the forefront.
You can cycle between different types of ranged weapons using different hotkeys if you have them selected in your equipment menu.
- Lock onto a target and press left click to shoot the weapon, or aim using the right click and press left click to shoot.
Using the ranged option will consume your ammo, which can be seen underneath your health bar on the HUD.
How To Gain Ammo
Once you run out of ammo, there isn’t an apparent way to recover it, leaving the player confused. However, the process is easy enough in most cases. There are two ways to regain your ammo:
- You can rest at any of the vestiges to restore your health as well as your ammo count. Reviving at a vestige and resting at planted vestige seeds also works for this purpose.
- Using Ammo Satchels of different sizes also recovers your ammo count during combat situations.
The second option is much better compared to resting at a vestige since you don’t want to revive the enemies in an area just to recover your ammo. It’s also very useful for boss fights, though having the pouch added to a belt slot is necessary for it to be a viable option during combat.
