Super Mario Bros. Wonder: Wonder Flower Effect, Explained

Advertisements

Apart from adding an all-new power-up that fans are absolutely in love with, Super Mario Bros. Wonder’s Wonder Effect is another interesting mechanic in the game. Your first encounter with the Wonder Flower would be right at the introductory level of the game, where Bowser invades the Flower Kingdom and steals one of the Wonder Flowers. As players progress through the game, they find a Wonder Flower in each of the levels, giving a really crazy touch to the already exciting levels.

Initially, the developers wanted to teleport the players to a different location, but eventually, they settled for warping the existing level itself. At first, interacting with the Wonder Flower would seem quite confusing, as it would create absolute hysteria around you, ranging from wavy animations and enemies going haywire to Piranha Plants singing, and whatnot.

What Is The Wonder Flower Effect?

Well, the goal of the Wonder Flower effect is to find a Wonder Seed for a particular level. Usually, you get a Wonder Seed on level completion, but if you want to find the others, you need to put in some work. The Wonder Flower effect adds an extra layer of difficulty since everything speeds up and changes in an instant, giving players not much time to react. At times, you will find the characters themselves transforming into a Spike Ball, which actually catches you by surprise.

Sometimes, the Wonder Effect will have time limits, and if you fail to collect the Wonder Seed in that time, you will have to start all over again. The good news is that you can replay a Wonder Effect if you fail it, so if you are having a hard time with it, don’t shy away from replaying it a few times and getting well acquainted with the craziness that is going around you.

Apart from that, the Wonder Effect also ends when players collect a Wonder Seed or reach the goal pole. If by chance you ignore the Wonder Seed, then that would end the Wonder Effect as well. Obviously, you can come back and retry it. You can also collect Flower Coins which are scattered across the Wonder Effect, which can be useful to purchase various items in the game.
