It’s no secret that Rainbow Six Siege Y8S4: Operation Deep Freeze will be revealed on November 12, but it seems aside from a new operator, Ubisoft has a big surprise for skin collectors in the game as a new Rainbow Six Siege Marketplace will reportedly be introduced in beta.

According to the anonymous source on X (fromerly known as Twitter), who has already leaked some footage from the upcoming operator as well, this new marketplace will allow players to sell or buy skins to each other via R6 Credits. A 10% fee will reportedly be applied to all transactions happening in the marketplace.

The source claims players will first get to register for a chance to be invited to the marketplace on the same day that Operation Deep Freeze is being revealed, with the feature itself entering the beta phase earlier in 2024. It’s yet to be seen what type of skins will be available for trade during the beta launch of this claimed marketplace.

From the sound of it, the upcoming marketplace for Rainbow Six Siege looks to be something similar to the Community Market in Steam, which is pretty saturated with in-game items of Counter-Strike 2 and Team Fortress 2, as players get to buy or sell items using Steam Wallet Credits. However, it remains unknown whether Ubisoft will allow third-party markets to be involved in the trading system, where players can buy or sell items using real-life cash.

Aside from the marketplace, the source also teased some new gameplay changes coming to Rainbow Six Siege with Operation Deep Freeze, including the removal of the ability to cook grenades, which was an essential part of the game, especially at the pro level in recent years. Cooking grenades is mostly popular for getting vertical kills, where attackers manage to dot-ping defenders and nade them from below.

That being said, Ubisoft is now reportedly bringing the cooking system to Stun Grenades, which could make this underpowered secondary tool come in handy more often, and encourage players for direct gunfights rather than leaning on grenade kills.

Operation Deep Freeze will introduce a new Portuguese defender as well as a brand-new map named “Lair”, the footage of which has been officially shared by Ubisoft already. The announcement stream will go live on November 12 at 11AM PT / 2PM ET / 7PM GMT / 8PM CET.
