The Striker is already shaping up to be a contender for Call Of Duty’s close-range meta. However, the Rival 9 can be a great asset in the right hands.

The Rival 9 is one of the many Submachine Guns available in Modern Warfare 3. This gun sports one of the best levels of handling and mobility, along with a fairly high fire rate. The main drawback of the Rival 9 is its weapon kick and recoil, making it not that effective beyond the medium range. However, with the right attachments, this drawback can be mitigated.

Our Rival 9 build is a great addition to your Core Multiplayer arsenal. Running the attachments below will reduce mobility by a small amount. However, you will receive a great amount of recoil control as a result.

Recommended Perks (Infantry Vest, Gloves, Boots, Gear)

For our Rival-9 loadout, we decided to equip the Engineer Vest, first and foremost, to get a second Gear Slot. Next, we suggest Scavenger Gloves, as doing so will ensure you never run out of ammunition. Covert Sneakers are a definite must for a silenced SMG class, as they will eliminate footstep sounds. The Blacklight Flashlight allows you to track down opponents by revealing their foot trail, and finally wrap up with the Mag Holster to mitigate the slower reload of the 50 Round Drum attachment.

Secondary Recommendations

The sheer reliability of the Rival-9 eliminates the need to run an additional primary or swap-to-secondary when it comes to Core Multiplayer. This gives you room to equip a launcher like the PILA, which will mitigate your vulnerability to the minimap by allowing you to take down killstreaks such as UAVs.
