Sons of the Forest has several lengths of day/night cycles that you can choose from. If you are trying to decide which of these you want to play with, you might be wondering just how long each type of day is.
Day length in Sons of the Forest
When you go to make a new game, you get to choose your settings from the main menu. There are several different levels of difficulty, but there is also something that lets you customize it. One of the settings is day length, and you can choose from four different settings: Short, Default, Long, and Realistic. Below are the lengths of each day in each setting in real time.
- Short: One hour is one minute 40 seconds, making a day 40 minutes long.
- Default: One hour is three minutes and 20 seconds, making a day an hour and twenty minutes long.
- Long: One hour is about 10 minutes, making a day about 4 hours long.
- Realistic: One hour is around one hour and 40 minutes, making a day about one day and 16 hours.
Daylight lasts for about two-thirds of the day with night the last one-third. So this means daylight is about 26 minutes in Short, about 53 minutes on Default, two hours and forty minutes on Long, and one full day on Realistic. While you can stay up throughout the night, you will most likely sleep through most nights to refill your sleep meter, so the day length will probably be closer to the times in this paragraph. You can check the time in game at any time by pressing M and bringing up the map.
