Assassin’s Creed Mirage is full of smaller references to past games. After all, this game is the first time that the series has returned to its roots in a few years, meaning it only makes sense to see some important references to past games.

Throughout the game, you will find references to older games and to different things in popular culture that surely inspired the game’s creation. Here is a list of the top easter eggs that you can find in the game.

10 Indiana Jones Outfit

AC Mirage - Indiana Jones Outfit-1

One easter egg that you will come across that points out other media franchises is this Indiana Jones-inspired outfit for Basim. Considering past Assassin’s Creed games have paid homage to Indiana Jones, this doesn’t come as much of a shock to players. However, it is a really cool outfit to own.

This outfit is called the Treasure Hunter Costume and is given to those who collect all the Dervish Artifacts in the game. The outfit’s description reads “the garb of someone who hunts the desert for treasure.” Considering Harrison Ford is hunting treasure in the desert when he wears a very similar outfit in Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark it only makes sense fans connected the two outfits.

9 The Assassin’s Creed Feather

AC Mirage - Feather-1

Several times in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, assassins within the Creed will assassinate someone and then dip a feather in the target’s blood. This first began with Bayek, the founder of The Hidden Ones. You can then see Altair do the same throughout Assassin’s Creed, and Basim is no different.

At one point, you can listen to another assassin explain the origin of the feather, dating back to Bayek himself. The Ancient Egyptians believed that your heart would be weighed against a feather in the afterlife. This usage of the feather symbolizes leaving the target’s fate in the gods’ hands.

8 Assassin’s Creed Cats

AC Mirage - Cat-1

One thing fans were quick to take note of was that Ubisoft was having a great time showing off Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and some cat pictures along the way. At first, it was unclear why cats would be in the game, but now it is clear.

There are a ton of cats that roam the streets of Baghdad during Basim’s time there. If you pick these cats up, you can even pet them and play with them. However, eagle-eyed fans will notice that the cats’ noses all have the infamous Assassin’s Creed on them.

7 Older Assassin’s Creed Games Outfits

Basim Wearing Altair & Ezio Costumes

One thing that Assassin’s Creed Mirage does is ensure that you are able to look back at some of your favorite assassins from the franchise. You are able to get multiple costumes that were seen in older games.

You can obtain Altair’s Costume, Ezio’s Costume, and Basim’s Valhalla Costume via Ubisoft Connect. For Basim’s Costume, all you need to do is download it. Unfortunately, the others will require you spend some points on them.

6 The Double Blade Letter

AC Mirage - Double Hidden Blade Letter-1

Those who have played the earlier Assassin’s Creed games will remember the double blade, an interesting hidden blade that Ezio used all the time. This blade design had two hidden blades, one on each arm of the assassin.

While playing the game, you will be able to find a letter that references this amazing blade. This can be found while you are training at the Hidden Ones’ hideout at the beginning of the game. The letter mentions that someone came up with the idea to create the iconic item.

5 The First Hidden Blade Letter

AC Mirage - The First Hidden Blade Letter-1

If you played the previous Assassin’s Creed game, Valhalla, you may have played the Legacy of the First Blade DLC. In this DLC, you will learn about the very first hidden blade that was ever used by an assassin.

While exploring Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Basim can find a letter to Roshan mentioning this blade. The letter also mentions Darius, the assassin from the DLC who was the first to wield the hidden blade against someone.

4 Iltani’s Assassination Of Alexander The Great

AC Mirage - Iltani-1

For fans who played the games featuring Ezio, you may have noticed a nod to Iltani, one of the assassins found in the Sanctuary in Villa Auditore. You can also find a tomb dedicated to her in Florence, Italy in the game.

While you are at the Hidden Ones’ main base of operations (Alamut) at the beginning of the game, you will meet Tabid. He will tell you a little bit about Iltani and mention that she is the one who assassinated Alexander the Great. During this time, he is making the poison she used to kill him.

3 Masyaf Castle Letter

AC Mirage - Masyaf Castle Letter-1

Another interesting letter that Basim can find that is a reference to older Assassin’s Creed games is the one mentioning a new home for the Hidden Ones. The letter mentions Jerusalem and that a fortress to the north may be the best bet for the order.

Fans of the series may realize that this letter is referencing Masyaf, the castle that was the Assassin’s Order’s main base of operations during the time of Altair. It is known that the man who founded Masyaf was sent from Alamut, their base in this game.

2 Ezio’s Movements

AC Mirage - Ezio Hand Motion-1

Fans of Assassin’s Creed may know Ezio’s Italian-inspired hand motion well. He is known to put his middle finger and index finger to the tip of his thumb while speaking at times, usually when he wants to emphasize something.

Something that fans noticed quickly while playing the game is that Fuladh, one of the assassins with the Hidden Ones, also uses this hand motion. It is a very subtle reference to one of the franchise’s most beloved characters.

1 Hytham

AC Mirage - Hytham-1

Finally, the best easter egg is that of Hytham’s origin story. In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Hytham is Basim’s loyal follower, though it isn’t explained how the two met beyond them being from the same region. Assassin’s Creed Mirage finally explains Hytham’s backstory and how he joined the Hidden Ones.

Basim can find a young boy standing near a Leap of Faith platform. Upon speaking to him, the boy will tell him that he wants to join the Hidden Ones and Basim tells him he is too young. After speaking for some time, they will climb down, and Basim tells him to find him once he gets older. As the boy leaves, his friends call him Hytham, confirming that it is the same young man fans know from Valhalla.
