Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Every Smoke Bomb Upgrade, Ranked

Advertisements

Assasin’s Creed Mirage will give players their first two tools early into the game after Basim becomes a full-fledged assassin. After completing another few main missions, it’ll be up to the player to unlock the remaining few tools.

Altogether, there are six tools, with the remaining four being unlocked in whatever order the player would like. One of these possible tools is the smoke bomb, which is perfect for both escaping and getting stealth kills in open areas.

8 Extended Range

The Extended Range Upgrade For The Smoke Bomb

Smoke bombs can be used both defensively to escape pursuing guards or offensively to stay undetected and get stealth kills. Both of these situations will often have guards running towards Basim or vice versa, making the throwing distance of smoke bombs fairly short.

While it may be useful to throw bombs further away, they are most effective when thrown right at Basim’s feet, making an extended range for throwing them a fairly useless upgrade compared to others.

The Extra Capacity Upgrade For The Smoke Bomb

The Extra Capacity upgrade will allow players to hold six total smoke bombs instead of the usual four. While this can be helpful when stocking up, smoke bombs are often found as possible loot in supply chests scattered around the city. As players explore or enter restricted areas, these supply chests will usually keep up with your tool usage, making additional storage not always necessary.

As players unlock more tools, Basim will have more options on how to handle a situation. This can save smoke bombs for usage only when they would work best. By utilizing all of your tools in a mission, you’ll be able to cleverly take out every enemy without running low on any of your tools.

6 Choking Fumes

The Choking Fumes Upgrade For The Smoke Bomb

While the offensive capabilities of smoke bombs can lead to easy stealth kills, the choking fumes upgrade isn’t always the best option for AOE damage. For those who prefer the more direct approach, this upgrade can help players damage a larger group of enemies while in combat, but the other upgrades and uses for this bomb make this upgrade not as useful in comparison.

This upgrade can be a useful tool to use against armored enemies, as they can be damaged while you dodge and work around to their back to damage them with your weapons. This upgrade lacks any defensive capabilities, as slightly damaging enemies you’re trying to escape from won’t change your chances of escaping or staying undetected.

5 Silent Blast

The Silent Blast Upgrade For The Smoke Bomb

For those who like to use smoke bombs in a more offensive way, they can be used to keep Basim hidden to land easy stealth kills on enemies out in the open. While this upgrade won’t help from the smoke being seen at a distance, the lack of noise won’t draw the attention of enemies with their backs turned.

Many restricted areas will have guards looking outwards towards the rest of the city, usually having their back turned to what’s happening within. Having these bombs go off silently will only further keep the alert down and Basim hidden.

4 Flammable Smoke

The Flammable Smoke Upgrade For The Smoke Bomb

The Flammable Smoke upgrade does require a multi-step activation for those wanting to ignite their enemies and can do substantial damage to a close-together group. An easy combo to this upgrade is throwing a lit torch, which players have an infinite amount of, to ignite the smoke.

Due to the two-step nature of activating the fire, this upgrade isn’t great in combat and will quickly give your position away in stealth. It can be a great option for those coming out of stealth to begin combat and get the jump on a few enemies to damage them right off the bat.

3 Healing Vapors

Even with the Elixir pouch upgrade, players will still often be in need of healing, especially on longer missions. While the healing vapors won’t heal a ton, they can be used as backup healing options in a pinch or just additional healing during combat.

If fighting breaks out, these bombs can be dropped at Basim’s feet to regenerate your health in combat and not require Basim to stop and drink an elixir. This can further be useful in stealth situations for those maximizing stealth kills with smoke bombs while also regenerating a bit of lost health in the process.

2 Durable Smoke

The Durable Smoke Upgrade For The Smoke Bomb

Smoke bombs have many uses, and the various upgrades are good bonuses up until the smoke disappears. With this upgrade, the basic smoke bomb is made more effective, along with any other upgrades that take advantage of increased smoke cover.

This additional time with smoke coverage can also be very useful for players trying to stealth kill multiple enemies in a single area or cause prolonged distractions to take advantage of.

1 Mindwipe

The Mindwipe Upgrade For The Smoke Bomb

Smoke bombs are great options for those trying to escape a group of guards. While Basim’s climbing skills and speed will often have you eluding your pursuers, a smoke bomb can make the process a lot easier.

With this upgrade, Basim won’t just be able to disappear but will also have the guards give up the chase. If enough pursuers are following the player at once, a single smoke bomb can immediately drop any alertness, letting Basim instantly disappear.
