Best natures for Litwick, Lampent, and Chandelure in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

There was a time when Chandelure had the highest Special Attack stat of any Pokémon. That time has past, but that doesn’t mean Chandelure still can’t melt enemies with its high-powered moves. The issue with Chandelure is that its other stats are pretty mid. This means trainers are going to need to find one with a good nature to make Chandelure really shine.

Which are the best natures for Liwick, Lampent, and Chandelure in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

The best natures for Litwick, Lampent, and Chandelure in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are as follows:

  • Timid (+ Speed, – Attack)
  • Modest (+ Sp. Attack, – Attack)
  • Bold (+ Defense, – Attack)

There are several sets that Chandelure can run, but the easiest build on it are to run a Choice Scarf or Choice Specs. Choice Scarf Chandelure can outspeed things like Chien Pao, Baxcalibur, and Dragapult to get surprise kills. Choice Specs Chandelure is more for punching holes into defensive cores with Pokemon like Clodsire and Garganacl.

In both of these cases, Timid is a great nature to ensure Chandelure hits those Speed tiers. When it comes to Choice Specs Chandelure, though, it can run Modest just to really blow up defensive Pokémon. I would recommend being a little careful with this set, though, as it might lose to things like speedy Heatran.

Finally, Chandelure can run Bold as part of a Substitute and Calm Mind set. While this set will need some Speed to work, Chandelure can use a Defensive nature, since its Special Defense will get boosts with Calm Mind. After a few Calm Minds, Shadow Ball and Flamethrower should be able to burn through many opponents.

How to choose natures in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

When choosing a nature in Pokémon, trainers need to think about what role the Pokémon is playing. When it comes to offensive Pokémon like Chandelure, trainers will usually want to boost Speed or damage output.

In terms of Speed, trainers need to think about relevant Speed tiers and which Pokémon need to be outspeed. This is why, sometimes, trainers can get away with things like Modest Chandelure, since not too many Pokémon hit that middle Speed tier.
