Every monster is born with a certain genome, and in Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, we call that genome “Talents.” It really helps to know what Talent(s) to focus on so you know where to pour your points into, especially if they’re not monsters you’ll be actively using to fight.
If you’re thinking of breeding an offspring with a certain “Talent,” then either Monster A or Monster B must have—whether it’s from their species or an inherit from their parents.
Must have Talents in Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince
In this guide, I will outline what the best talents are in Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince as well as what important stat boosts and skills are attached to them. This is all from my own experience so far. I’ll update it as I discover more good stuff!
Talent | Notable Skills | Maxed Talent Skill |
Booster | Stat buffs | None. However, when you unlock all nodes in one level, it is upgraded when the monster is used as a parent (i.e. MP Booster I -> MP Booster II) |
Ward | Stat buffs | Castslasher: Reduces MP consumption by half |
Afficionado | Attacks of the indicated element | A strong attack for that element However, When you unlock all nodes in one level, it evolves into a Virtuoso skill (i.e. Crag Afficionado -> Crag Virtuoso). Virtuoso’s Maxed Talent is the strongest attack for that element. |
