Developers from Nightdive Studios have announced the release of the remaster of the cult adventure game Blade Runner, about which we have written more than once in these pages. The project went on sale on PC and consoles today, June 23, as its creators promised earlier.
Recall, the game was originally supposed to be released back in 2020, but a little later its creators shifted the dates to 2021, and even later to 2022. If you haven’t read our previous posts, we remind you that the updated version of Blade Runner will get support for HD monitors, updated screensavers, improved interface, SMAA antialiasing system, anisotropic texture filtering, increased from 15fps to 60fps frame rate, extended subtitle support and other visual changes.
The original Blade Runner was released by Westwood Studios back in 1997. Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition is also available for purchase for users from Belarus and Russia without VPN and other “dancing with tambourine”.
Evaluations from first-time buyers aren’t happy at all yet: at the time of this writing, Blade Runner had 42% positive reviews on Steam out of 14 written. Players berate the remaster for sound problems, “hurting” the cinematic effect of the same 60 fps, the presence of gameplay bugs (blocking the passage), and general roughness.
It looks like Nightdive Studios will have to work hard in the near future, because, as we suspected, Blade Runner fans will keep the developers busy for a long time because of their careless attitude towards the original.
