Diablo 4 Living Steel Drops Get Crucial Hotfix From Blizzard

Living Steel is all anybody in the Diablo 4 community can talk about right now, and Blizzard has addressed everyone’s concerns with the item’s drop rate in Hotfix 3.

Living Steel is required to summon the new end-game boss, Grigoire. You then need two Shards of Agony to drop from Grigoire in order to summon the other new end-game boss, Uber Duriel. However, you can only open Living Steel Chests with 300 Aberrant Cinders, which are only obtainable every two or so hours from temporary Helltide events.

Let The Steel Flow

As you can imagine, this is a lot of grinding. In order to speed up the process for players, Blizzard has targeted Living Steel Chests. On World Tier 3, you will now be granted 2 Living Steel, with an additional chance for 1-2 additional Living Steel to drop.

On World Tier 4, you will now be granted 5 Living Steel, with a chance for 5 extra Living Steel to drop. Additionally, all other Helltide chests will now grant 1 Living Steel in World Tier 4. These changes have come at the cost of the Living Steel Guardian Monsters, which were causing an issue for players where the chests wouldn’t spawn correctly.

These adjustments have been greatly welcomed by players, who were unhappy with the level of grinding currently involved. Grigoire and consequently Uber Duriel should now be more accessible.

Also included in the Hotfix are two bug fixes, one which prevented players from logging in due to an error code stating the season had ended and the other which prevented players from completing season journey objectives.

There has been a lot of news coming out of Blizzard recently regarding Diablo 4, largely stemming from a developer Q&A at Blizzcon 2023. We learned about Diablo 4’s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, which will be released late next year. This expansion will include a new class that has never been seen before in Diablo, suspected to be ‘Spiritborn’ because of an accidental leak from Blizzard.
