Diablo 4 Season of Blood is the biggest update for the game since its release, which makes it quite an important return point for players who have already finished the main campaign and are hungry for a new plot, and that’s exactly what Blizzard has been cooking up behind the scenes.
The second season of Diablo 4 introduces a new set of invaders in Sanctuary throughout a brand-new plot, through which you are going to face an army of vampires and their infamous leader, Lord Zir. Aside from that, you can expect tons of balancing changes, some new items, a bunch of endgame activities, and a lot more when the new season arrives.

Diablo 4: Season of Blood will go live on October 17 at 10AM PT / 1PM ET / 6PM BST / 7PM CEST across all platforms. You can expect server maintenance before you can download the new patch, the details of which are yet to be shared by Blizzard.
The changelog of Season of Blood is quite long, which is why we suggest you read it over at Blizzard’s official blog post. The new season introduces 12 unique items, 7 legendary aspects, and dozens of fixes and updates over the existing dungeons, endgame activities, items, and character classes.
The new plot in Season of Blood will begin with the players getting affected by a vampiric curse that will grant them some new powers to stand against Lord Zir and his army of vampires, awoken from the City of Ancient due to the events of Diablo 4’s main campaign. To be accurate, these vampires were in Sanctuary even before humans, but something now has awoken them, and this is going to have serious consequences for all the living in Sanctuary.
One important part of this new plot is Erys. She is a brand-new story character and a vampire hunter played by Gemma Chan, the well-known actress who has already starred in many Hollywood blockbusters like Eternals and Don’t Worry Darling.
The next big event in Diablo 4 is also tied to the plot, as players will fight with Lord Zir’s army in Blood Harvest, the new large-scale, open-world event coming to the game in Season 2.
