There are a ton of recipes to learn in Disney Dreamlight Valley. A vast majority of them are simply there for players to have fun experimenting with every ingredient, while some are relevant to a quest line, and there are even some simply meant as a fun reference to a Disney property. But even the simplest of recipes can be tricky.
Seafood salad is very easy on paper, being a 2-star recipe and therefore only needing 2 ingredients. However, half of the recipe is open while the other half is exact. This can lead to players accidentally creating a similar dish instead.
How To Make Seafood Salad
The two ingredients you have to use at a cooking station are:
Clams, Oysters, and Scallops are easy Seafood to recommend, as they can all be found in the sand of Dazzle Beach. Remember that Fish and Seafood are different, so use the correct tab when cooking to avoid confusion. Other Seafood will include some fishable ingredients such as Crab, Lobster, and Squid. These rarer ingredients will grant a high selling and energy value.
What To Avoid When Trying To Cook Seafood Salad
Any Seafood will do the trick, but only Lettuce can be used to make Seafood Salad. If you use any other Vegetable, the game will not count this ingredient, and you’ll cook a Seafood Appetizer instead. This is an easy way to accidentally waste your Seafood and Vegetables, which can be incredibly bad if you have a high-value Vegetable such as Okra. Lettuce is easy to come by, making this dish simple to create and recreate, but the loose rules with the Seafood half can still cause you to forget that the Lettuce is non-negotiable.
How To Make Seafood Soup
Seafood Soup is being included for players who wish to experiment with the recipe now that they know it. Typically, you can add needless ingredients to a dish in hopes of increasing its value, but with Seafood Salad you risk creating another similar dish. This dish is Seafood Soup, which requires:
- Any Seafood
- Any 2 Vegetables
As shown above, even using Lettuce twice will still result in Seafood Soup instead of Seafood Salad. With this knowledge, you’ll be unlikely to mistake the recipes, so long as you keep in mind the rules behind both. It can be misleading at first, but it’s easy to remember, and you can always check the Collections section of the Menu to find any known Recipes under Meals.
