Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is now live on PlayStation and will soon be available for Xbox and PC. The game has new weapons, maps, and gameplay changes for players to experience, but there are also several returning features. One of the most asked questions in the community is whether MW3 has skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) or not.
Is there skill-based matchmaking in Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Beta?
Modern Warfare 3 Beta has SBMM, and so will the full game when it launches on November 10. Skill-based matchmaking is a feature that puts players with similar skill levels into one lobby. The idea behind this model is to keep casuals away from highly competitive players so they can also enjoy the game rather than just dying to their overskilled opponents.
SBMM is one of the most controversial topics in the FPS gaming community. Its opposers argue that this feature ruins the casual gameplay aspect of the public lobbies in Call of Duty Multiplayer, which is, in fact, an arcade-style shooter. Furthermore, there’s a ranked mode playlist for those looking for competitive gameplay. Ultimately, it’s in the developers’ hands whether to implement SBMM or not and how strong it should be. That said, I believe it’s here to stay in CoD games for now.
