In recent months, the presence of Russia, Russian characters, and even the presence of a translation into the great and mighty has become a touchy subject for developers and publishers. Some are slowly getting rid of unwanted “tails”, but as Battlefield 2042 showed, in some cases it is not so easy.
In a recent interview with Eurogamer, DICE studio representatives admitted that they are not going to remove references to the Russian Federation from the multiplayer shooter. The reason, however, is very prosaic – it’s too difficult, because the entire game is based on the confrontation between the United States and Russia.
Recall that in the last four months EA has removed Russian clubs and the Russian national soccer team from FIFA 22, FIFA Mobile and FIFA Online. Whether it ever plans to bring them back is unknown.
