Bringer of one of the worst status effects in the game, Saberhawks are one of the combat assignments you’re tasked to complete in the Corel Region. Here’s how not to get stunned by their Talons in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth ‘Don’t get stunned’ combat intel guide

This actually one of the easier combat intel missions in FF7 Rebirth (looking at you disrespectfully, Duneworm). All you need to do is take Cloud, Aerith, and another long-distance attacker like Barret or Yuffie with you. The trick is to attack from a distance and switch characters when it looks like the one you’re currently controlling is targeted.

Don’t bother dodging the Zap Talon, as Stun is impossible to dodge. This was the case in Remake, and they haven’t changed that fact now.

I have another slightly riskier but faster method below, but let’s tackle this one first.

The Saberhawks are weak to Fire, so have some Fire Materia equipped. But the neat thing about it is the fact that any type of Fire attack will pressure it, even Fire abilities you unlock in your Folio or Yuffie’s Fire Ninjutsu.

Another thing I did was to deal heavy damage with Cloud’s circle + square long range slash and switch to Aerith or Barret when Cloud starts getting the aggro. Once the aggro looks like it’s going to switch to my current character, have Cloud blast Firebolt Blade at the Saberhawk to pressure it. Firebolt Blade can get Cloud airborne too, which can help you pull off a continuous string of combos.

Saberhawks have very low HPs. Defeat them one by one and keep your distance. As long as you play the long and safe game, you’ll be able to defeat it steadily.

The faster but risker method

If you have the Provoke Materia at this point, grab one of your faster members (like Tifa and Red XIII) and cast it. Move closer to the Saberhawks to gather their attention, then run away.

Once they’re following the character with Provoke, switch to Cloud and use Sonic Boom (Enemy Skill) + Firebolt Blade. It should hit all three of them at once and put them off their feet.

If you’re fast enough and are sure all the others’ have ATB gauges that can hit this group together, you can finish them off really quickly. Again, their HP is not that high!
