Following the announcement that Final Fantasy XVI will be released in the summer of 2023, the game’s producer, Naoki Yoshida, gave numerous interviews in which he revealed all sorts of details, from the fact that the game will not have an open world, to the announcement of a third trailer to be released later this year.

Speaking to a slew of news sites, from IGN to Gamespot to Game Informer and even the official PlayStation Blog, Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida discussed a number of topics related to the upcoming JRPG. One of the other important revelations is the fact that players will exclusively control the game’s protagonist, Clive, while the other party members will be controlled by artificial intelligence. That said, one of the companions could be Torgal, the wolf cub shown in the previous trailer.

Yoshida also said that unlike the previous major installment, “the development team is now working very hard to make the final release [FFXVI] a complete game so that no other tertiary content is required to enjoy or understand it.”

During the last State of Play earlier this month, fans received their second major review of Final Fantasy XVI. Even though the game’s release is still a year away, Yoshida stated that “we are currently already working on a third trailer, which will come out this fall. In this trailer we hope to focus more on the world, the story and the story, and hopefully bring a little more information to players, show what the story will be like, what the narrative will be like and how it will fit into the world.”
