Steel is the material you need to make various items in RimWorld, so you must mine it in large quantities to survive. Fortunately, getting steel is not difficult, and there are quite a few methods you can use to get steel in RimWorld. Listed below are some of the best ways players can mine steel and use it to create items such as crafting stations, turrets, and armor.
How to mine steel in RimWorld
The first way to get steel is as follows to extract it from the oreYou can find these ore deposits in the hills or mountains. You can find these ore deposits as Compacted steel deposits, as shown below. To extract steel from compacted steel deposits, you need to select the steel deposit with the Order of extraction. You can use a mining order by first clicking on the “Orders” option on the left side of the screen.
Under “Orders,” select Mining., then allocate a compacted steel deposit. However, all of this will not be enough, as you need to assign one of your colonists to Mining. Fortunately, you can assign a colonist to Mining by opening the Work menu tab. Under Work tab., we recommend that all colonists with skills in Mining. Mark the Mine on your list of work priorities. As soon as you assign colonists to the Mine, they will start mining the Steel Field. But to make your colonist miners mine faster, we recommend that you set the job priority to 1.
How to change the work priority in RimWorld
To change the work priority in RimWorld, you must enable Manual Priority on the Work tab. As shown below, you can enable Manual Priority by tapping the X next to Manual Priority. By clicking on the X symbol. the X symbol will turn into a checkmark and the manual priority will be enabled.
If “Manual Priority” is enabled, you can change the job priority by clicking on the number below the job type. For example, in our image above, you see the number 1 under Mine. The number 1 symbolizes when the job type is set to the highest priority, so if you want your jobs to be mined first in Rim World, you must set the following options Job Priority. For mining of minerals – 1.
Other ways to make steel in RimWorld
In addition to mining steel deposits, you can obtain steel from trade with mass resource traders when they pass by your colony in caravans. You can also trade with other factions to get steel if you send caravans to their settlements. Another great way to get steel is Destroying Steel Ruins. that may appear in your starting region. For example, in the image below we have a destroyed steel wall, on which we can use the Deconstruct order to dismantle the wall and get steel.
The “Destroy” order can also be used to get steel from steel blocks that fall from the sky during events. You can use the “Destroy” order in the “Order Options” tab if you want to destroy steel blocks or ruins. Another option is to click on a steel block or ruin and manually select it for deconstruction. However, selecting steel blocks this way will not select all other blocks and ruins next to it, and you will have to manually mark each of them for deconstruction.
