Debilitation works similarly to the negative status effects of JRPGs, like sleep, silence, and poison in the Final Fantasy franchise. In this guide, I’ll explain how to increase Debilitation Resistance in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
How to boost Debilitation Resistance in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Armor increases Debilitation Resistance
The easiest way to boost Debilitation Resistance in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is by equipping armor with a +x% under the Debilitation Resistance tab. Each icon represents a Debilitation (refer to the image above), and as far as we know, there is no cap on the resistances.
Imagine this scenario: Debilitation has an invisible bar that goes up to 100. Every enemy debilitation ability fills that invisible bar by 10. If you have a 10% resistance to that debilitation, then instead of +10 to your “Debilitation bar,” you’ll receive a +9 (making it 9/100). Once you fully reach the cap, the enemies will apply their debilitation to you.
Ideally, you want a 100% Debilitation Resistance on your character, so you’ll never have to worry about getting any status effects.
Rings grant Debilitation Immunity
Some rings grant the Arisen or the main Pawn with Debilitation Immunity. It’s an easy way to cover two Debilitation immunities so your armor can handle the rest. Here are all of the rings I found that grant Debilitation Immunity during my playthrough:
Equipment Name | Debilitation Immunity | Location |
Ring of Motility | Petrification | Agamen Ruins Apothecary – Agamen Ruins |
Ring of Desiccation | Drenched | Boda’s Armory – Bakbattahl |
Ring of Repellency | Tarred | Boda’s Armory – Bakbattahl |
Ring of Thawing | Frostbite | Boda’s Armory – Bakbattahl |
Ring of Purification | Blighted | A Poisonous Proposal Side Quest – Bakbattahl |
Ring of Quenching | Caught Fire | Volcanic Island Armory – Volcanic Island |
Ring of Insomnolence | Sleep | Volcanic Island Armory – Volcanic Island |
Ring of Loquacity | Silence | Volcanic Island Armory – Volcanic Island |
While playing Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, I realized that Debilitation Resistance is much more important than Elemental Resistance, and the same applies to Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Some Deblitations essentially lessen your elemental resistance and increase your chances to receive specific status effects (e.g. Drenched = Lightning and Ice Resistance Decrease + more chance to get Unconscious and Frostbite status effect). In conclusion, I recommend maxing your Debilitation Resistance rather than elemental.
