How to Stay Alive in Winter Survival
Below, I have listed some of the best tips and tricks to stay alive much longer in Winter Survival.
Medical Supplies
After starting any game mode, craft as many Medical Supplies as possible, like Leg Stabilizer or Alcohol Bandage, from the start of the game itself. The main reason behind this is that irrespective of the type of symptoms you may face, almost every single one depletes your health. Let it be fever or hunger. Your health will decrease at some or other rate. So, having a lot of Medical Supplies and using them regularly will help you to stabilize your physical health and maintain sanity levels.
Hunting Predators
Winter Survival is not a game about hunting. So, please stop devoting most of your time outside the Cabin hunting large creatures like boars, wolves, or bears, as spending too much time near large predatory animals will increase the Trauma level significantly, taking huge chunks of health. To conclude, spend time only if you require some materials like skin or meat from animals.
Sleeping
During my initial playtime, I almost died six to seven times by going insane due to the lack of proper sleep. So, instead of roaming around day and night looking for better loot or hunting down animals, sleep for around 7 hours minimum daily without fail. Sleeping not only helps you reduce the Sleepiness but also maintains the Trauma value. But, at the same time, ensure not to spend much time inside the Cabin as you may get affected by the Cabin Fever symptom, causing further problems.
Maintaining Temperatures
Winter Survival’s environment is severely punishing due to low temperatures. So, maintain your temperature and keep your body warm to avoid any fever that may arise from coldness or wetness. To avoid being cold, stand next to a bonfire or campfire. For the wetness, construct a drying line and hang all your clothes on it. If you don’t do this regularly, chilness will affect your health and trauma levels, resulting in your death.
Food & Thirst Management
Similar to maintaining sleep, it is very essential to eat and hydrate in the game. If you don’t, it will slowly increase your trauma levels. Both the icons for food/thirst are available at the bottom left of the screen. Monitor the meter regularly each time you leave the house, and if you feel anything is below 50%, increase it by drinking or consuming food. If you are out in the wild, forage some wild fruits and drink from the water streams.
