Lies Of P: Best Motivity (Strength) Build

Advertisements

Lies Of P grants players the freedom to play exactly how they want to. Whether it be cheesing challenging boss fights with throwables, creating broken builds, to going the more traditional Soulslike route, players really do have control over how they progress through the game. This is also true when it comes to creating a Strength-focused build – though a couple of suggestions don’t hurt.

A Strength build in Soulslike games goes all out on overhauling the physical damage a player is able to dish out. Strength builds typically sport high Weight, slow wind-up attacks, and low mobility. However, they also aim to provide maximum damage output and increased defense. This is also the case with Lies Of P, where you will mainly want to improve your Physical Damage but also your Damage Reduction Rate whilst Guarding. Strength/Motivity-focused builds are also great for Staggering.

Best Weapons

One of the best weapons you can utilize in a Strength-build is the Holy Sword of the Ark. While the Noblesse Oblige does provide exceptional damage output, it is obtained towards the end of the game. The Holy Sword of the Ark, however, can be acquired pretty early on. The Holy Sword of the Ark is heavy-hitting but is not quite as slow as other Motivity-based weapons. Pair this with the Alter Fable Art, and you can get quite a decent amount of reach with heavy-hitting attacks.

There are also a few alternative weapons you can consider for strength-orientated builds. For example, some combinations that incorporate the Krat Police Baton Handle can easily exceed 5k damage when both the blade and handle Fable Arts are utilized simultaneously.

Exploding Pickaxe Blade + Exploding Pickaxe Handle

Legion Arms

Though the Legion Arms you will want to use largely depend on the enemies you are facing, two notable options are great for a Strength-oriented build. The first is the Puppet String. The Puppet String is great for pulling human-sized enemies to you, but a fully upgraded Puppet String is what makes it great for a Strength build. If you have unlocked Attack Link, you are capable of pulling yourself toward your enemies following up with a devastating attack. This attack can knock Elite enemies down, thus providing an opening for an uninterrupted Heavy Attack.

The second Legion Arm you can consider is the Falcon Eyes arm. This nifty Legion Arm allows you to engage enemies in ranged combat, which can be great for the slower pace of gameplay associated with heavier builds. However, Falcon Eyes can also be great for building up the Staggerable status when you unlock the New Material Gunpowder upgrade.

Stats

The Stats you should focus on for a Strength-orientated build consist of Vitality, Vigor, Capacity, and Motivity. Motivity is pretty self-explanatory, as most of the weapons used for such a build scale off of Motivity. Vitality, Vigor, and Capacity on the other hand, work hand in hand with the slow and heavy-hitting playstyle you are going for.

Vitality directly affects your health and Guard Regain, and it’s only natural to keep both as high as possible. Heavier builds provide a lot less mobility, so you will want to be capable of tanking as much damage as possible through Guarding and Perfect Guarding. Vigor controls your Stamina, and a slower pace build requires timing. Keeping your Stamina high will work well for consistently Guarding and Perfect Guarding, whilst providing just enough to follow up with a Heavy Attack when given an opening.

Capacity simply allows you to increase the amount of Weight you can carry without negatively affecting you – thus allowing you to hold heavier items and weapons. With the soft caps taken into account, aim for levels 30-35 for Motivity, levels 30-35 for Vitality, and levels 15-25 for Vigor. Capacity has no soft cap, so you can go as high as you wish.

Amulets & Defensive Parts

When it comes to Amulets, there are quite a few to choose from. Firstly, consider overhauling your Stamina with Amulets like the Leaping Amulet, the Patience Amulet, or the Blue Guardianship Amulet. Motivity scaling weapons aren’t as heavily reliant on stamina as those associated with a Dexterity build, but you should still keep it high so you are always able to dish out a Heavy Attack when given the opportunity to.

Another Amulet to consider is the Iron Wall Amulet, which increases the Physical Damage Reduction Rate. This is an obvious plus considering that you are less mobile with a heavier build, and there will be a higher emphasis on Guarding and Perfect Guarding. The Strength Amulet is also good for adding more points to Motivity.

When it comes to Defensive Parts, you should be perfectly fine sticking to the basics. Though you will expect to bear a high amount of Weight with a Strength build, you must still avoid exceeding 60% or even 70% Weight.
