Lies Of P is a fantastical Soulslike of epic proportions following the story of Gepetto’s Puppet as he uncovers the truth behind the Krat Disaster. This game has a deep and compelling narrative that explores exactly what it means to be human, and just like many other Soulslike games, features multiple endings.
Lies Of P features three distinct endings: Real Boy, Free From The Puppet String, and Rise Of P – each of which impacts the story in different ways. All three endings are epic in their own right, but which one you receive will solely depend on the choices you make throughout the game. In this guide, you will learn just how to acquire each ending in Lies Of P.
This article contains major spoilers for the ending of Lies Of P’s story. Proceed with caution!
Real Boy: They All Lived Happily Ever After
How To Unlock
The Real Boy ending is the only one to occur from a single definitive choice you can make. To unlock this bleak ending, you must accept Gepetto’s request to hand over your heart Under The Abyss – directly after defeating Simon Manus, Awakened God. Accepting Geppetto’s request will supersede any previous choices you have made throughout the game, regardless of your Humanity status.
This ending is most notably the darkest out of the three, as it will result in the reanimation of Carlo and the death of all the inhabitants at Hotel Krat.
Free From The Puppet String
How To Unlock
The Free From The Puppet String ending is one of the two outcomes that play out after refusing Geppetto’s request to hand over your heart. In order to get this ending, you will need to be at a low Humanity status before finding Sophia at the Ascension Bridge. Gaining Humanity is accomplished through a variety of different methods. However, the most surefire way to get this ending is to simply tell the truth at every chance you get, choose not to listen to the Vinyl Records, along with ignoring many of the side quests throughout the game prior to meeting Sophia.
Once you reach Sophia after defeating Laxasia, the Complete, you will be given the choice to either let her live or give her peace. It should be noted that neither choice will change the outcome of the game if your Humanity is low. If you choose to give her peace and your hair color remains black at this stage, you will still get the Free From The Puppet String ending.
All that is left now is to progress through the game as usual, rescuing Gepetto and defeating Simon Manus, The Awakened God. Finally, refuse Gepetto’s request to hand over your heart Under The Abyss, and defeat the Nameless Puppet. Upon doing so, the Free From The Puppet String ending will play out.
This ending certainly feels the most incomplete out of the three, as it will simply end with Geppetto’s death at the hands of the Nameless Puppet – but not before he damns the main character for being nothing but a ‘useless puppet’.
Rise Of P
How To Unlock
The Rise Of P ending is the second possible outcome that can play out upon refusing Geppetto’s request to hand over your heart. In order to achieve this ending, you will need to have a high Humanity status before meeting Sophia at the Ascension Bridge.
Humanity is measured in four levels, and each level can be tracked after certain actions and dialogue choices throughout the game. These levels are:
- Your Springs Are Reacting
- Your Ergo Is Whispering
- You Feel Warmth
- Your Heart Is Pounding
Humanity points are obtained pretty early on by lying to other characters, listening to Vinyl Records from start to finish, and solving the riddles given to you by the King Of Riddles. Below we have compiled all the vital decisions you will need to make to achieve the highest level of humanity, before reaching Sophia at the Ascension Bridge.

- Return the Broken Baby Puppet to the woman in the window.

- Before reaching the Vignini Works Stargazer, head to the phone and interact with it. Here you will be introduced to Arlecchino, the King Of Riddles.

The Atoned Interaction (Moonlight Town)

- Defeat The Survivor at the Workshop Union to receive the Stalker’s Promise gesture
- Upon reaching the tram beyond the Moonlight Town Stargazer, interact with The Atoned

- Simply select “Stalker” if you do not have the gesture.

- Locate the Archbishop’s Holy Mark and return it to Sister Cecile before fighting the Fallen Archbishop Andreus
- Return to the St. Frangelico Cathedral Library Stargazer
- Cecile should now be gone, and in her place, you will find the Divine Service Vinyl Record and Cecile’s Written Confession

- Read Cecile’s Written Confession to get the Pray gesture
- Use the Pray gesture at the one-winged angel statue at the end of the bridge opposite the St. Frangelico Cathedral Stargazer.

King Of Riddles Questline (Krat Central Station)

- Answer the riddle correctly by selecting the option “Ergo”.
- Return to any one of the previous phone locations. When the Kind Of Riddles asks if you are a killer, select “no”. You should receive The Chosen One’s Trinity Sanctum Key regardless of what answer you give.

Belle Questline (Hotel Krat)

- Once you have defeated the Corrupted Parade Master, head to Hotel Krat
- Interact with Antonia first.
- Interact with Belle and accept her request to find her partner
- Head to the Krat Central Station Platform Stargazer
- Head down the stairs beyond the Stargazer, turn around, and enter the train in this area. Here you will find Atkinson.

- Head back to Hotel Krat and interact with Belle. Select the dialogue option “he was killed in action fighting a puppet.”
- You should be awarded the Vinyl Record, Why. Make sure to listen to it afterward.

Veningi Interaction (Hotel Krat)

- Progress the story as normal and defeat the Black Rabbit Brotherhood
- Head back to Venigni and speak to him. He will decode the message sent out by the King Of Puppets

- Choose the dialogue option “I couldn’t hear.”
- Be sure to also play the King Of Puppet’s message at the Hotel Stargazer

Alidoro’s Secret Quest line (Hotel Krat)

- Upon defeating the Black Rabbit Brotherhood, continue past the area and interact with Alidoro
- You will need to kill Aldioro at this point in the story to progress further. You should be awarded Alidoro’s Cryptic Vessel
- Head back to Hotel Krat and decipher Alidoro’s Cryptic Vessel by giving it to Venigni
- Go and interact with Eugenie

- Select the dialogue option “I think he was just a talented Stalker”.
- You should receive a Vinyl Record afterward, make sure to listen to it.

Arriving at the Black Seaside (Black Seaside)
|
- Progress through the game as normal until you reach the Black Seaside. Here you will explore Carlo’s lost memories by interacting with a series of sculptures along the beach.
|
- Make sure to interact with each and every statue in the area to gain the most Humanity.
|
|
Concluding The King Of Puppets Questline (Arche Abby Outer Wall)
|
- After answering the very last question from the King Of Puppets, you should receive The Chosen One’s Trinity Sanctum Key.
- Progress from the Arche Abby Outer Wall until you reach a large section that descends downwards.
- Head to the very bottom of this area, where a large Human enemy can be found. Here you will find the Trinity Sanctum.

- Interact with the King Of Riddles inside. When he asks you what you are, select the dialogue prompt “human”.
|
Completing the above tasks should give you sufficient levels of Humanity. From here, progress to the Ascension Bridge and defeat Laxasia, the Complete. Progressing from this area, you will encounter Sophia in her physical form for the first time. Here you will be presented with a choice. It is imperative that you choose to give Sophia peace to get the Rise Of P ending. In the cutscene where Sophia is granted peace, Gepetto’s Puppet’s hair should turn white.
From here progress through the story as normal and defeat Simon Manus, Awakened God. Once you encounter Gepetto Under The Abyss, refuse his request to hand over your heart. You will then need to defeat the Nameless Puppet.
This ending plays out relatively similar to the previous one. However, before Geppetto dies at the hand of the Nameless Puppet, he will notice that a tear falls from his creation’s cheek. Gepetto will then apologize before passing. Gepetto’s Puppet then returns to the Arche Abby and grants Sophia a second life by planting her Ergo into a puppet that resembles her.
