The Coliseum has made a regular appearance in recent Yakuza titles, and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is no exception. As Kiryu entangles himself in the underworld yet again, this opens up the opportunity to take part in fights in the Coliseum, also known as the Hell Arena.
You’ll be able to unlock the Coliseum pretty early on in the game, allowing you to not only take on heavy-hitting opponents, but also customize your fighter attire for the arena. If you’re curious when you’ll be able to unlock the Hell Arena and start earning major cash, here’s how to do so.
How To Unlock The Coliseum
Before you can get your hands dirty in the Coliseum, you’ll have to be relatively deep into the story. The Coliseum will unlock for you in Chapter 2, after you’ve met Akame and have done a few requests and missions for her. This includes taking down a few welfare thieves, and visiting a new Cabaret Club in Sotenbori. Eventually, you’ll be able to return to Akame at night, and she will take you to the Castle, where you’ll find the Coliseum.
After you’ve both arrived, you’ll be forced to compete in a battle at the Coliseum, making it impossible to miss unlocking it. You’ll go up against some patriarchs, fake Kiryus, and more. After completing this Main Story section, you’ll need to return to Sotenbori to find Hanawa and take out Tsuruno and the Watase family members. Then, you’ll be able to return to the Castle and take on more opponents at the Coliseum, including Hammerhead, which will raise your rank to Silver.
You’ll then want to recruit some people to join your team for Hell Team Rumble competitions, and return to the Coliseum reception, where you’ll fight one Hell Team Rumble battle. Afterward, you’ll finally have full access to the Coliseum. You can even access it from the main menu, right underneath the Akame Network section. You can check out some of the available tournaments, as well as edit your Joryu Clan and change your active members.
